Default battery cable clamp bolt size ?

anyone know the size & thread pitch for the little nut on the battery cable clamp ? I want to use a second nut to hold down my battery tender harness - i.e. sandwich the ring terminal between 2 nuts instead of loosening the original nut (which loosens the clamp)

It's a 10mm nut. I don't think there are any thread pitch options.

Check this thread, post #2 mentions what you want to do:

Thanks Rick! That's what I needed.

BTW - I have mine hooked up as shown in my pick above and rerouted out the front grill

In fact, I posted in the thread you linked to

I'm going to hook a battery tender ring terminal harness to my '08 Silverado and it has the same batt cable clamps. I'm also going to correct my C6 while I'm at it.

Thanks again

I did the same with my Battery Tender. Hooked it up to both the positive and negative battery terminals with a couple nuts from the hardware store. Worked great. If memory serves correctly, the nuts are M5 size. I found this out by taking one of the battery terminal nuts with me and finding a bolt that it would fit on.

Thanks - agree that's the best way to do it...

Connected directly to the battery does not work too well when you have a battery cover, which I do. In this case, just mount the positive terminal from the battery tender wiring to the positive cable post under the fuse box lid and the ground lug to the ground stud that is just forward of the fuse box on the inner fenderwell. There are other wires grounded there, so it is easy to find.

Don't have to purchase anything with this option as there is plently of thread on the studs you will attach to. The battery tender wiring rests neatly to the side of the fuse box when not in use.

Hey Rick - I noticed a 10 mm socket is what fits the nut. Is that why you said it was a 10 mm nut? I thought I would mention that since it doesn't always work that way.....

The threaded stud itself is an M5 or M6. Can't go by the nut hex size. Alot of people make that mistake.

I ran my battery tender cord down the side of the engine, underneath the car. A lot easier and looks better than the picture here.....
