Question on mounting an Escort 9500ix radar
I have been looking at buying a Escort 9500ix with the sun visor mount and have a couple of questions for those of you that have done this. (Also, I suspect there is already a thread on here, but I could not find it!)
1) The mounting instructions say that the detector must be mounted level. However, the mount goes into the passenger side sunvisor (could also go on drivers side, but would be in my line of vision) clip that holds the visor in the stowed posiston. This is right behind the windsheild GPS antenna (08 Z06), and looks like you could not mount level, but would have to mount with a slight down angle to clear the antenna? Anyone had any trouble with this? Or does it clear the "black box" to the right of the mirror?
2) Power: I hate the thought of the cigarette lighter cord going up, but also not to happy about messing with my mirror connection to get an invisicord connection. Think I need it on the "switched" side, since ZO6's are notorious for battery rundown (small battery apparently).
Thanks in advance for input.

The VozTech visor mount will place your detector just below the OnStar box on the windshield. The Great Lakes mount places the detector about 3/4" higher and your detector may touch, the V1 definitely does but the Escort is a little smaller.
The Invisicord power hook-up at the mirror is switched and is a very easy install. Just follow the instructions and use the supplied cable ties to secure the connection. Get the 24" cord as there is plenty of space in the windshield header to hide any excess.
Good Luck.

OK,, I just installed a VOZtech sunvisor mount for the escort 9500ix, am awaiting the arrival of the visicord.
The instructions said there was a "sensor" in the passenger side Sun Visor Clip. When I took down the clip, there is a hole in the clip and the headliner, but NO sensor. 2008 ZO6. The shop manual makes no mention of a sensor in the visor clip either. Anybody have any ideas? (Maybe in a standard coupe, but not a Z06?)

I just got one, used 12 inch invisicord. It was soooo easy to do, not a problem at all. I have the amazing suction mount that SouthernCarParts includes in the package and have it mounted dead center under the mirror. Doesn't affect my visors at all, perfect clearance and line of sight.
I wouldn't attach anything to my visors that would impede their usage. I couldn;t be happier with the setup. My only complaint...where the clip mounts to the unit, there's considerable "play" so it does shake a bit...eventually I predict some rattles. SO when it annoys me enough, I'll use some sticky-back felt and line the clip so it makes a nice snug fit.
and by the way, the unit is awsome. It takes a few days of driving the same route for it to "learn" the false alarms, but it really does work...flawlessly.

Nice little feature but not really missed, based on Forum reports.
Congrats on your install.

I did the sunvisor mount with the invisacord, the 9500ix fits there perfectly, the mount does press against the bottom of the black box, actually the box holds the bracket steady, there is no movement of the detector at all, just worked out great, I have a vert so many times I will remove the 9500 and store it in the trunk, take care to wire tie the cord to the rear view mirror shaft with a wire tie, it is very easy to unplug the invisacord from the mirror wire jack and it is a real pain to plug the small leads back in, if you use a wire tie you can plug the cord into the detector over and over without ever pulling the jacks loose.

The ambient light LED in the passenger sunvisor was only on the cooler, older C6s that were produced until the first part of 2008....ah, the good old days when our interiors had ambiance, or ambience. (both are correct)

(Thanks for telling me what it was for, since the shop manual doesn't even mention that it USED to be there.)

I can't seem to get my Passport 9500ix to power on with the 12" Invisicord plugged in to my 2008 3LT mirror (with autodimming). Could anyone post pics of the proper install? I've done everything according to written instructions to no avail. Even tried the base mirror install with no success.
Everyone's saying this is so easy so I MUST be doing something wrong. Feeling rather inadequate, here.

Blendmount is the way to go!!... and, the LED in the passenger visor rocks!!.. I replaced mine with a superbright LED and lowered the Resistor value and it's like a RED BEAM onto my console at night... super cool map light or task light for the passenger...

The key is to get the pins pushed all the way in. It's difficult sometimes because you are sharing the socket with the connector that's already in place.
Here's a pic from Bugman's very helpful site.

Thanks for your help! Despite all efforts I couldn't get it to work. Finally verified with the vendor that I had a defective unit. A new one will be shipped to me soon.
