Grand Sport Ride comfort coming from a F55 owner
The Grand sport is truly a step up above the standard coupe. I owned a 2003 F55 and a 2009 F55, so I was nervous that the ride would be harsh. But, to my surprise, the GS seems to ride nicer then the F55 in sport mode.
My other concern was the ride would be to harsh for my wife, but she agrees that the car is ride is very comfortable and tight.
I never owned a Z51 so I can't compare.
Thanks,
Chris

My F55 in Sport mode rides a lot like my 2005 Z51 did. The handling is also quite similar, with the limitation being the lower traction of the base tires.
I would expect the GS to feel much like any F55 in Sport mode, or any Z51 for that matter. The difference is the ability to take the F55 out of Sport mode and put it into Touring mode when the roads get rough. That is, afterall, one of the major advantages of any magnetic suspension system.

I was away on travel when my car arrived from the dealer so my wife drove it back which was a 103 mile trip. She got the first drive and loves the car, this is a good thing!
Last night, I returned home for Thanksgiving. My wife drove the car to the airport, so that was my first drive. I only put about 30 miles on the car, but it's truely night and day difference between the F55 and the GS.
Total mileage is 163.

I agree on the GS ride. I had a 2005 with the F-55 suspension, and was a bit apprehensive about the ride of a GS, having never been in one until I picked it up from the dealer. After 5 minutes of driving our new GS, my wife turned to me, and at the same time said. " this rides better than our other Corvette", refering to our 2005. The ride is firm, hugs the road better, more precise handling, not harsh, love the ride. I too drove my 05 for the last few weeks in sport mode instead of touring mode, to get used to what I thought was goiong to be a harsher ride. Very pleasantly surprised.

susp except in base car. I live in SE Mich was has for most part
crappy broken up roads. My GS on GY F1s was good ride on a smooth
asphalt road but that is less than 5% of roads around me. On broken
roads, the impact harshness can be bad , somewhat better than my 2
friends Z06 cars with worn GY runflats. Good info on how the GS rides
compared to F55 cars in SPORT mode but what about the difference
in TOUR mode on a poorer road???
I changed to General Exclaim UHP non runflats and my ride is much
better on poorer roads. Selling GY to track guy. If your roads are good
shape, then not alot of reason to change.
Please reply , those of you who commented on how they liked the
new GS ride, on what kind of road that was on.

I am interested in the comparison with the F55 Tour mode as well.
I guess I have a non-sensitive butt, but I have a hard time telling the difference between the tour and sport modes. My wife picks up on it right away. Weird.

What is all this talk about ride difference between sport and tour. Yes there is a small diff but it is not huge. The F55 does not provide what can truely be term a soft and hard ride. What is does in sport mode is make the car turn better by allowing quicker transtion. I think Wayne88 has the full scoop.
Spring rate more than anything will determine if the ride is harsh. The GS will be harsher road for road over the F55 or base. This does not mean it is a bad ride though. And the GS should out handle any of the previous non-Z06 vettes. All and all I think it is a very good option and one I plan adding. But I will keep the F55 as the vacation car.

I have a 6 spd manual GS & an 06 coupe with the A6/ F55. I like the ride better in the GS as it's tighter & gives a one with car feeling similar to the 08Z I replaced with the GS, although it's pleasantly less harsh than the Z06. The F55 is better over rough roads, but not as much fun & responsive as the GS. For smooth & somewhat bumpy roads, I take the GS. For the really rough stuff the I take the A6/ F55.
