My Car smells like smoke
MY new to me JSB Coupe has a hint of smoke like the previous owner smoked a few times in the car.
Ive tried a few things like:
Putting baking powder all over the seats and carpets even the back compartment (then clean up)
Clean and condition leather
Clean dash and all plastic pieces.
Cargo shade and net were still sealed so that's not it...
I have about 10 dryer sheets in the car right now which I feel is masking the smell.
What is next? Would the Cabin Airfilter do anything?

Have you tried spraying Febreze (sp ?)?
I realize it's too late, but I probably wouldn't have bought it if I had smelled it before purchase.

I bought the car from a dealer out of state and when I Went to pick it up i couldn't smell the smoke.
It took a few days for the smell to come out.
Also the smell of old lady perfume is more dominant over the smoke.
All the work I have done has reduced it but I want it to smell like a non smoker 08 coupe.

We had to replace the tint in a company truck that an employee smoked in so we could sell it. It had worked it's way in between the film and the window. Either that or the film just absorbed the smell. Either way it fixed the problem.

Pull the ash tray cup. If it smells you'll have to throw it away. Been there, done that.
We assumed the lease of a car from a guy who said they never smoked in it. It smelled like perfume. I finally figured out they sprayed perfume in the ash tray cup. I could not get it out. I even took a wire wheel on a Dremel tool and carved out the inside of the cup. I had to throw it away, once you get the perfume out the smoke smell comes back.

There are products that professionals use that 'supposedly' eradicate the smoke smell. I would check with some fire restoration professionals.

There is ozone producing machine that detailers use that might help, but I am not sure of the economics of buying one for yourself. They are called ozone generators. Contacting a local detailer may be your best option. If you don't find anything in your Yellow Pages check with used car dealers in your area -- ask them who they use.

Some detail shops that do auto reconditioning have a device not unlike the one described in an earlier post - -I weas told it was called an "ionizer" that essentially forces negative ions into fabric and othjer pourous surfaces. It worked well for us and cost about $100 - - came to the house and waxed the car to boot.
