Oil Filter Magnet ???
Has anyone heard of or use a "Oil Filter Magnet?"
This is a magnet that attaches to the oil filter (not to be confused with the magnetic oil plug that I have seen discussed on this forum)...
I was searching e-bay and came across this product. Curious about what others think...

Seeing how little powder there is on the magnetic drain plug, I image that is why GM stopped using them. As far as a magnet on the filter, the filter would stop all those particles with or without the magnet.

I use a magnetic plug on my 09 and find small, almost powder like particles on it.
I change my oil often.
By using a magnetic plug or filter magnet you are taking metal particles out circulation from the oil in your engine. All of them? Maybe not. Some of them? Definitely.
That means you are reducing the possibility of metal to metal wear.
You have nothing to lose and everything to gain as it only increase your odds of less internal wear.

My question is, on the dry sump system, does the filter have a bypass valve to allow oil to flow in a high pressure / blocked filter condition. If so, will the magnet have an effect on the opening of the bypass system, namely by magnetizing the ferrous bypass valve. If safe to use I already have a few absurdly strong magnets to use. Anyone know?

If you want a really STRONG magnet this will surprise you. Find an old PC disk drive. Brake it open. There will be two magnets in there that once attached to a metal surface you will have a very hard removing. Most people don't expect a magnet in a disk drive.
Put one on your filter and one on the oil drain. Even at 186 MPH they ain't going anywhere.

I do use a filter magnet and the drain plug magnet that came with the
car, BUT I was told and I hope I can explain it correctly: If a clump of
particles forms on the tip of the filter magnet, it can become large
enough to eventually break off and travel all at once to an area where
it could do damage. Sounds like it could happen? What do I know?

It probably can't hurt, but the engine block is aluminum and most of the other wear parts are non-ferrous metals. I don't know how much good it will do. I think that is why most manufactuers stopped using them.
