Hard top for C6 convertible
Does anyone have one of these tops from Smooth Line, and if so, have you tracked your car with it? http://www.smoothline.com/corvette_c6.php

Melting Slicks
If you're asking if this top will provide the same rollover protection of a coupe, it won't. It's nowhere near as strong as the C5 Z06 hardtop. Except for the latches, I don't think it contains any metal at all and would crush like an eggshell.
Us vert owners really have only two protection factors: (1) unless it goes airborne it's difficult (but not impossible) to roll a Corvette, and (2) the A-pillars are VERY strong. These factors satisfy insurance companies for ordinary road use because there are no rate differences between a vert and a coupe.

I see the solstice guys use one of those tops on the older solstice track cars, my car doesn't go out in bad weather so I doubt I would buy one.
But back in the day if you owned a vette vert and used it in winter, like everybody did back then, you had to have a hardtop, I have owned quite a few 64 to 67's with hardtops and I liked the factory top, it made the car feel so much bigger and warmer inside.

Every corvette convertible I've owned (56, 66, 91, and 94) had hard tops and I drove the C1 and C2 and the 91 during the winter. I stored my 94 for the winter with the hard top on, so only drove it for less than 2 months with the hard top on. Since I store my 08 corvette roadster during the winter, I decided not to get a hard top. I believe that Smoothline is the only manufacturer of them. The factory hard tops were very strong, rigid, and nice looking. The Smoothlines are nice looking too, but I doubt if they are as strong as the OEMs of yesteryear. I wouldn't trust one on a track as they would be the same as a convertible top in my opinion. Great for everyday driving tho. Saw one on a C4and it looked bad - wasn't cared for and the glass showed cracks. Saw one on a C5 and it looked great.
