Default dealer oil change prices

what have you all paid at the Chevy dealer for oil changes on the Vette? Droppe dmine off at the dealer and they are charging $89. They do my Tahoe for $35, other than the Moble 1 what is the difference? I know the dfference is oil price is not $50!!! Guessing it is $6 per quart, does the car take 5 or 6? A regular quart costs $3 or $4 so should the oil change be around $50? just wondering.

They are swapping out rims for me though and with tire and tpms swap, mount balance install it is $30 per tire which I thought was not too bad.

Thoughts?

Had mine changed Friday and cost me $70.00 at the dealer. Not sure if this is good or bad price?

Over $149.00 Canadian (almost at PAR)...I'd say you have it very good.

Your paying a fairly normal price for a dealer. That's another reason to DIY. My neighbor (a widow) ask me to check her oil after she had it changed at a well known lube and oil place. I added three quarts. Another reason.

Your simply paying the corvette tax, my car will never see a dealer for oil changes, an hours play and peace of mind knowing it's done the way I want it done

paid $70 at dealer which is less then my state registration! with coupons, usually pay less then that and every 5th one is free so that averages out at around $56 per change.

The dealer charges $70.00 but that includes a free car wash

I change my own and it costs me just about half that. Nothing better than spending some time tinkering with the car, saving half the money, and knowing that the job was done right.

My dealer here in NJ only charges me approx $15 labor if I supply the oil and filter. I buy Mobil 1 from Walmart or Sam's Club for cheap, and premium filter (K&N or Mobil 1) online. Ask your dealer if he will do labor only. My previous dealer in Arkansas did the same thing!

Two broken rocker panels plus some cash.

You've got to be kidding. Going to a dealer and risking broken rockers for something as simple as an oil change? I would go to Wal-Mart before going to a dealer. Wal-Mart doesn't do many Corvettes so they will listen that you need to use jacking pucks to keep from breaking the rocker panels. The dealer thinks they know better.

Personally I spend the 20 minutes and do it myself. Total cost is about $30 and I know it has been done right and that something (like a radiator hose clamp) didn't "accidentally" come loose in the process. (Yes, I've had a dealer loosen a radiator clamp, an oil sender, and a wiring connector while doing unrelated work.)

EDIT: BTW, you might want to check on tire service also. $30/tire for mounting and balancing and swapping TPMS sensors seems on the high side in my experience. Tirerack.com has a referral service that lists prices in your area.

That's about what my dealer charges me. He usually also washes my car. I know the guy that does the car washes, so I trust him.

Since I just got her I took it in to Galles Chevrolet for a quick oil change. That will never happen again. $102.85 and I didn't even get a kiss. Showed my military ID and still no love.

They always did me right on my Tahoe but she won't be back either now that it is out of warranty. It will all happen in my garage from now on. Matter of fact I just went to Napa to stock up on 40% off filters.

Local dealer charged me $87 and that was on an 8 qt Z06 and I got to watch so I could inspect the two drain plugs.

I posted a thread but a few fools ruined it and it was closed. All I was trying to share was how good a few dealers are.

Just checked, 8.9 quarts in those things.

I have a Z06 and it takes 8 qts.they charge 1/2 labor($54.) and they do a 21 pt check and top of fluids. Goes for about $100. mobil one at the dealership goes for $8 and change. They do send coupons for 10% off. so atound $90 around here.

6 qts oil at Wally World (Walmart for non-Southerners) - $26
1 decent oil filter - $7.50
local automotive shop putting it on drive-on rack so I can inspect the underside - $10
not getting my hands dirty - priceless!
