Default Z06 bi-mode muffler comparison

I just scored a pair of Z06 bi-mode mufflers which I plan to install along with the NPP-in-a-box kit on my 2006 convertible. I know they're not as loud as NPP in open mode but can anyone give me an idea of what to expect as far as sound goes? What aftermarket muffler might the Z06 bi-mode compare to? I had a Bassani cat-back system in my 2005 which sounded nice...curious if they may be as loud as those. If not I may consider the Z06 muffler mod before having them installed.
Thanks!

I would consider doing the mod before you do the install. After having the un-modded Z mufflers on my 05 for a few months I pulled them out and did the mode. Trust me, this is what you want.

Doesn't the Z06 cat back have larger pipes than your C6 convertible? If so (and I am pretty sure they do) What did you do to install them on the car?

Thats correct. I just cut and welded the stock pipes to the Z mufflers.

Yeah hopefully you know that the pipes arent the same sizes. Z06 Bi-Modes are NOT plug and play like the NPP's are. Just giving you a heads up before you get under the car and start taking stuff apart.

that's a video of my muffler mod. I thought it would help in terms of sound and also serve as some encouragement to do the mod before you put them in.

Yes, the exhaust system specialist I'm using is aware of that. He's going to adapt them. Sounds like I should ask him if he can do the mod.

mittens, did you see that someone else chimed in to my WTB request with a set at an even better price? Perhaps they may still be available?

Here's the post if you need the info. It also shows prices they're asking http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-p...-mufflers.html

I had an encounter last week with a new Z06. My 06 car has LG's, NPP and a Vortech S/C(dont know how much if any sound this adds). When he finally pulled up to the light he was excited and yelling how good my car sounded and asking what I did to it. It absoutely screams at WOT and drowned out his stock exhaust. Actually wish mine wasnt as loud when open. It draws unwanted attention. But it does sound all business. If you do headers the Z06 will sound perfect(for me anyway, we're all different) The headers really amplify the sound and make it a deeper roar.

Just wondering if there are any hard-copy directions for the muffler mod...or any stills of the procedure. I'd like to print it out to take along so that my exhaust guy can take a look and let me know if he can do it.

all the videos i like better, but most dont say if they have headers or cats or what.

My thinking is, headers and an offroad pipe may need a little of the muffling effect from a normaly zo6 exhaust. other wise the modded exhaust would be like a cut out. (strait pipes from the headers back) it would be very loud, and not have a good tone. but maybe i am worng?

anyone with this set up?
