Default BMW jack supports on C6

Thanks to a formum member who suggested using the BMW jack supports on your C6. This looks like a no brainer to me. For a total
of $36.00 which includes shipping the pucks snap into the jacking
spots and remain on your car. You can't see them unless you are flat on your back looking under the car. This takes all the mystery out of where to place the jack.

part # 51 71 1 960 752

Click on jack supports and then go to 318i series

They work great--no worries about storage or trusting that the jack pads will be used.

When I ordered mine from BMW, the guy asked what year I had. I said, "a 2005" and he chimed with, "Corvette," before I could even say Corvette.

He said he sold more for Corvettes than BMW's!

I am used to having to order the part special order because usually dealers tell me the part is not in stock..
The customer before me had just bought some of these jacking pucks is what the parts guy told me. They work great and are still in

They work great on a C5. You might want to stop at your local BMW dealer and save some money. They have them in stock for $5.95 each plus you will save on the S/H.

What is BMW's part number?
I went to a BMW dealer today and the parts guy said that they have a number of different lifting pads in stock.

Weren't they able to cross reference a part # for a 1998 318i? Did they try this # 51 71 1 960 752 or is this just the Bavarian Autosport number?

I assumed that this was the Bavarian Autosport number and didn't have it with me. I didn't see the reference to the 1998 318i. I'll use it next time I'm in their neighborbood.

That part# is a regular BMW part# that any BMW parts department can look up.

The jack pad is actually the one for a BMW E-36 chasis, and the 1998 318i is one of the several models built on the E-36.

Default Silly comment from the counter parts guy

I went to pick up the 4 jack pucks at the bmw dealer which coincidently is a dual point BMW and Chevy store. Price was great at $21.60 plus tax (BMWCCA 10% discount).

The counter parts guy says to me...."which car is this for?". I replied 2005 Corvette. He then said that the parts will not be returnable since it is going on a Corvette. Huh?? He confirmed that if it is going on my BMW (which I have 2) then I can return it. Life is filled with silly comments (and silly people).

The pucks were installed in about 30 seconds.

Isn't the clearance affected under the car with jacking pads installed full time?

I keep some billet jacking pucks in the rear compartments.

Clearance is not a problem. They're only about 5/8" high.
