Airbag letter install...anyone done these
So I got some passenger airbag letters from WCC. I used alcohol prep pads to clean the area of the dash in and around the "corvette" logo on the airbag. let it dry for a few and now went to apply the decals. These things wont stay put to save my life!! Anyone have any suggestions? WCC failed to include instructions (though should you really need any...its a sticker!)

you really need to clean it really well multiple times. When you think you have cleaned it enough clean it again. Use a Q tip and alcohol. Then get some 3M adhesive promoter and put it in the indentations. Really is a lot to get all the crap off the dash to make it stick.

Whatever that anti-reflective coating is that they put on the dash seems to be anti-adhesive too. Be careful cleaning and try to clean just the letter depressions only (Q-tip) or you may end up with uneven shiny areas around the letters where the coating gets rubbed off. I speak from experience Without adhesion promoter, they won't stick. Use a Q-tip to apply that also and stay in the depressions so you don't have to clean up the excess.
I finally gave up on dash letters. Even if you get them to stick, how long will they stick once the interior is exposed to extreme temps.
You can check with RPI Designs about the promoter and instructions since I have a feeling that WCC gets the lettering kits from them.

Didn't someone post about how easy it was to paint the indentations, similar to the rear bumper?
The pebbled surface of the dash makes me think it would be hard to get crisp edges on painted dash letters, but I've never tried it.

I followed his instructions to the letter and mine adhere perfectly and it has been hot here in the Chicago area.
Q-tips , alcohol and 3M adhesion promoter did the trick. I cleaned up the alcohol effects with a very careful set of Armorall applications.
The cashmere looks great, just like the picture.
Good luck.

Sure do, paint it instead. Easy to do. Here are some instructions for the rear bumper but work the same for the dash. I ordered some matching AO paint from Paintworld and it came out great!

That looks great. I bought the crappy letters from WCC and just got frustrated and trashed them.....could'nt get them to stick. thought about adhesive but decided "I" would make a big mess of my new Z06.....so 30 bucks plus shipping in the trash....
To thread crash/ripe face etc.....nope. That's why I had such a hard time getting them to stick....they were some type of polymer....felt like had 'gel' like properties to it.....

Mine won't stay on either. Company even sent some additional adhesive along with some more alcohol pads. They just won't stick. Dash had nothing put on it since
owned and its a 06.

For Adhesion Promoter look on-line at 'Bondplex.com' and then BondPrep 4298 Primer Pen.
Like a felt pen with a pump tip, easy to control and works great on a clean dash surface.
Cannot emphasize enough, the importance of cleaning/prep for this relatively easy and attractive mod.
FYI- I'm not associated with this company even though I have recommended them on several similar posts. This is the only source I could find with the correct description/adhesive for these applications.

So when the passenger airbag deploys, where exactly does the dash separate/open up?
Anyone got any pics of a dash that has had the airbag fired?

Same problem on my 2011 grand sport. I'll try the alcohol, but I'm hesitant about using the bonding agent, I'd rather go without the lettering than mess up my dash.

Melting Slicks
I used an additional adhesive on mine and they came out great, they have been on 3 1/2 yrs. I used a tooth pic to apply gorilla gel glue on the back of the letters. Once applied, keep a Q-TIP close by with alcohol to clean the edges if needed.
