Question about 07 drive train warranty
I have an 07 Coupe that I have a confirmed oil leak, I can see where it is dripping on the floor. I am assuming it has to do with the oil pan gasket or something like that, my question is - I do not have the optional extended warranty but the 07 came with the 10 yr/100K (I think that is what it was) drive train warranty, do you think it will be covered?
8/5/2010 Update:
Got the car back from the dealer today. The issue was oil weeping through the bolts that connect the oil pan to the block. Apparently they are open on the end, so the bolts go through the pan housing and extend into the actual inside of the oil pan. The solution is to remove the bolts, clean them, and apply liquid teflon which is very similar to the tape used on pipes. No need to drop the pan. Tech said he has done it on several and the results are successful, no leaks. Seems a poor design for a high tech car, but hey I am gratetful it is fixed. He also cleaned the oil residue. Overall a positive dealer experience.
No charge, it was covered under the drive train warranty.

It's 5 yr/100k miles on the '07 warranty. You might need to hurry on down. You could be running out of time depending on when your car was originally sold.

I think it should be covered. I found this page on FAQ's on the warranty and under engine it includes oil pan, seals, gaskets....
http://www.gm.com/vehicles/warranty/....html?page=faq
Click on the question - What does the warranty include.....
But these days you never know. Sure seems GM has been going out of their way to deny coverage for all types of reasons.

I just had mine done prior to the 3yr B2B expired, but I think it's covered under the powertrain warranty for 5yrs.

Thanks for the clarification. I am way within that, I just hit the 3 year mark in March. It is going in next Wednesday, I will provide an update after the verdict. I was almost certain the problem was a leaky oil pan plug gasket, but no matter what I did I could not stop the leak including a new GM plug and gasket. It is very intermittent but there for sure. So today I was inspecting my wax job using a more powerful light than normal and happened to see remains of dripping oil on the front suspension, got under and confirmed wet oil, not sure of the source but up there slightly to the passenger side, about as far back as the tires. So no more delusions about it being real or not, I am planning to sell and cannot sell as it is.

We must've gotten two of the last LMB's produced - IIRC, mine was produced March 13th.
I had to have a gasket replaced in year two, so I can't be much help with your question. Hope everything is covered and goes smoothly.
(oops - meant to put March...)

I love the color of your car! Mine was produced in March 07. I should have had it looked at a year ago but I was convinced the problem was with the plug. We'll see...

I have an 07 Coupe that recently went through an oil leak repair. I started to see a few drops of oil on the floor and assumed it was coming from around the oil pan. The car was still under warranty so I had the dealer look at it. On the first visit he put dye in the oil to spot where the leak was coming from and asked me to drive it for a week or two. After a couple of weeks I brought it back to the dealer. It turns out that it was not leaking from the oil pan. They found that the harmonic balancer seal was leaking and they replaced the seal and bolt. Since that repair in May I have not had any oil leaks.

Cool, will head to the dealer myself then. I've noticed a seepage type thing going on at the rear end. Oil type substance migrating its way over the differential and I'm at 96K miles on my '07, purchased Oct '06, so I'm in there.

Hello,
Under normal circumstances, this would be covered under the powertrain warranty. Please let me know if you would like me to help schedule an appointment, or if there is anything else I can help with.

Whoaaa...thanks so much....
Whoaaa Geoff, thank you so much. I think I am on the right track with the local dealer. What part of Chevrolet do you represent, are you part of the dealer network, etc?

I spoke to the local dealer about mine and they said they were not sure if mine was covered or not till they get it, see it and determine where my seepage is coming from, therefore whether or not its really covered. Got an appointment for 10am on Tuesday.

I'm glad Beezvette brought up the leak issue which prompted me to get under mine.
