So using any one of these will not void anything because they meet specs?

Correct. This is the GM list. No other products on the market meet the GM4718M oil spec. This is not a discussion on "my oil's better than yours" but simply a "here is GM's list" of registered products.

or WalMart synthetic?

I do think that list was revised sometime after june '09. last year, I didn't see some of those names on the list. some I've never even heard of, i.e., warren, pinnacle, coastal, etc.

so, someday it's possible that WalMart's will be on the list...maybe.

Default 10w-30

For us warm weather C6 drivers - note that 10W-30 IS on the list, in spite of what some doubters would have you believe.

I've this before - show me ONE documented case where GM denied a warranty claim for engine failure due to using an "unapproved oil" of the correct viscosity changed IAW their scheduled maintenance.

I also believe it has been revised since then, or there will be a revision coming out very soon, as Pennzoil's new Ultra synthetic is going on the newest list too.

Other oils may well meet the spec, but have yet to be tested against it to receive certification.

It always has been on the list, it just isn't recommended for the car....per the owner's manual. The manual says to use 4718 approved oil in a 5w-30 weight. There have always been many oils that meet the 4718 spec in different weights.

That's only good for Fcars! (Not really, but it is factory fill...)

Using any of the oils on the list in the recommended viscosity will not void your warranty - but seriously, when was the last time you heard about a Corvette having engine failure because the owner used an oil not on the 'list'? I bet there are thousands of Vette owners who probably don't even know there's a list and just fill theirs with whatever is on sale - perhaps not even synthetic - and keep motoring along.

There are a lot of people running Amsoil, Royal Purple, etc. - I have yet to read about the engine blowing on them. Maybe it costs $ to be on the list?
