Default C6 Corvette Cooling System Burping?

Hey guys, I got my engine rebuilt and it seems like my cooling system may have air in it. What's the proper way to "burp" this car?

Here's the method I used when I replaced my thermostat... works great.

Simple technique to purge air from the cooling system. …There are two hoses on the overflow tank. Follow the smaller/upper one until you reach it’s junction point. Remove that connection. Fill the overflow tank and put the cap on tight. Blow into the overflow tank via the line that your removed. This will force coolant from the overflow tank into the cooling system. When the tank is empty, refill and repeat. Continue doing this until fluid begins to exit from the other end of that hose connection you removed. Reinstall hose. DONE! Works like a charm!

Is the junction point where the hose "Tees" off into one section going to the radiator and the other comning out of the engine block directly behind the 2 air filters?

That's it... pull it from the "T" and pull it up to blow in to the reservoir.

I did it, but it seems like my coolant just hangs aroun 198 F during these hot summer days. I guess I wil monitor it. Gone are the days when it used to stay at a cool 185.

198 doesnt sound bad to me for a hot Tx day.
Did you stroke the engine or raise compression? More hp=more heat.

We changed the coolant on our 2009 LS3 twice, and just used the Service Manual procedure. Worked perfectly.

I'd tell you the procedure but don't have the manual in front of me right now...

My 08 has run at 198 since new. Changed the coolant a month ago and the way I got the coolant in was to run the engine until warm, turn it off and then fill the cooolant tank. When the thermostat opened then the coolant flowed into the system-just watch your temp gage so you don't let the engine get too hot.

After the inital fill I added coolant for a couple of days, was never a lot, just a little after a drive.

That's nothing man. Thermostat opens at 190º, and fan doesn't kick in high until 230ºF. Coolant easily hits 198ºF even in winter man, while sitting at a traffic light. Seems like you're perfectly fine. Just keep an eye on the reservoir beause it takes at least a couple of dozen full cold/hot/cold cycles for the cooling system to completely purge itself of air. Good luck.

I use a Coke bottle. Cut the bottom out of 2 liter and put the neck into the reservoir. Fill the Coke bottle 1/2 way, start the engine turn the heat on full blast and after a few minutes you will see the air bubbles form and the coolant drop.
