I had to also change the relay which had an obvious brown burn on it and it's working great.I went to the dealer that looked at my car and he was snotty and told me the only fix was the whole box change and that my fix would fail. When I went the first time I was told that they saw the broken wire, we all know that's impossible and he said he saw the burned relay but didn't change it.
I wish I could trust a dealer, but every time I go I get talked s#it to.
Same with ford with my truck.
BTW, I'm going out tonite.....

So I looked at the repair by others in this thread. Somoene mentioned that this is not how GM will repair. In my letter they mention installing a jumper. I assume they are just creating a parallel path?
I don't like putting my Corvette in the shop. I seem to always get a paint scratch (at no additional charge). Since all GM is gonna do is add a jumper wire - I would just assume do it myself, unless it's as much work as the (most excellent) repair procedure shown in this thread.
Anyone got link to the jumper install using the "GM recall fix" method ?

If I were doing it, I would do it the right way, which is to replace the bad wire with a good one so that the fuse box continues to work as designed. Remember that it's just one bad wire, not the basic design of the fuse box. The design is the same as millions of other GM cars...like so much of the Vette.

Not headlight related but....
The only issue I have with the car is anytime I stop the car, get out and get back in and restart the car the memory for the mirrors won't retain the settings. I've tried reprogramming all the custom set parameters for key FOB but still no go. I have to manually re-adjust the power mirrors from the door panel controls each and every time I drive the car. Any ideas on that one?
** seems like after reading up on the forum I may have an incorrect setting in the "Auto Memory Recall" area on the DIC.**
Thought I had it set correctly but going to double check it tomorrow!
Thank you!
David

Hi:
I just looked at the pdf in this discussion a few posts back and I saw the fix that GM is doing. They even have a part number for the piece of wire with two connector pins on it.
Attachment 47863352
This is something else !
If I don't do the fix by taking the fuse block completely apart and replace the broken piece of .030 copper wire I can do what GM says with two connectors from the wire connector kit that most good GM dealers have , make their own wire repairs without having to replace complete harnesses!
It would take me about ten minutes to make my own jumper wire as pictured in the instructions using two connectors from the GM parts box wire connector assortment.
Any decent dealer mechanic can make this wire with the two connectors and a piece of wire from an old cut up harness ALL dealers have laying around.
BEEN THERE DONE THAT
To be fair I have an electronics back round and have made my own wiring harnesses many times using scrap wire and the correct connectors from the GM or another kit.
Hope this helps
