Default Does anyone regret having a manual convertible top?

I am in the final moments of ordering a 2011 convertible and would be happy with a simple L1 setup but that comes with the manual top. To upgrade to the automatic top I need to get the L2 which will cost an additional $3k. I think I can live with a manual top but want to know if anyone is sorry they have one and why.
thanks

I have a 2006 with a manual top, and I do wish I had gotten a power top... but that's just because I'm lazy.

I had a Miata with manual top, and I think that for the money you're spending on a Vette, the top should do it's own thing without me having to
get out of the car,
pop the cover,
fold the top in,
smoosh it down,
lower the cover,
then get back in the car.
Really, it's not a big deal, but still, I'd rather have the power top on this, my probably only and last "toy" car.

Congratulations on your new Vette! It must be fun picking one of those up new!!

I have an '05 and at the time the power top was delayed so I purchased a manual top. I had a power top vert prior to the C6.

I have zero regrets about going manual top especially for the thousands in difference. I live (although not for long) in So. Cal as well and as such I put the top down every day. I also always put the top up when I park. Sure you have to do a bit more than the auto top, but frankly I don't even think about.

Is the auto top worth something over the manual? Yes. $3k....your call, but not to me.

I had an 06 vert with manual top and now I have an 09 with a power top.

I wish it was a manual top for the following reasons;

1-faster to put up a manual top
2-more trunk space as the power top has to maintain a safe area
3-if it fails (power) it is a pain in the *** to close up the wrench

I had a C5 manual top, and it was amazingly simple to get up or down. I never found myself wishing it were power. I guess a power top would be nice at times, but I wouldn't pay thousands to get it.

Had one manual, felt like a second class citizen, since lesser cars had power tops, when the power tops came out it has been nothing but..............

By the way, hey Steve, keep your pet bug of my post!!!

I am still happy to this day I got a manual top and I take mine up and down daily. The Top Down Tech is a must if you do have a manual top. I love walking away and having the windows roll up.

If you are going to keep it in one position or another most of the time, manual will be just fine. I have a power top but only because the car had everything else I wanted otherwise. I could live with a manual.

Hey, what is that, a bed bug?!

Two C5 manual tops, one C6 power top. The power top is a little slow. The mechanical side of it is scary if it fails to operate. So far my power top has worked just fine. Fingers crossed.

I got the power top because in a Vert, I really wanted the heated seats and I wanted the HUD also....BUT I would not hesitate to get the manual top at all. It is just not a big deal to put the top up and down manually. I do disagree with the comment above that the manual is faster though. If you start both auto and manual with the operator sitting in the driver's seat, I think the power is faster than the manual where the OP has to get out and then also get back in to latch it. Also, I do not think that there is any significant difference in trunk space between manual and automatic versions of the top. The quality of the manual top is the same as the automatic....same structure, same fabric etc...so go for it!

I did not want a power top but with the 3lt it was standard, I fell if I ever get to feeble to put down a man top I might buy a power top.

I like the look of the top up, one of the reasons I bought a vert was because it didn't have that big rear window in the coupe.

My top has never been down other than when it was in the showroom last jan.
