Safety Car
Im not sure if your talking about the Crays, but those are some quality wheels, made only for the Corvette. I had those and never had a single issue with them.

I bought a set of Crays for my 01' C5, that were the Z06 style chrome rims, and the chrome started to peel on the two back rims within a year of purchase. Cray deemed the problem a manufacturer issue and replaced them. Loved the rims, other than that. Just an FYI.

Burning Brakes
I've been considering the Cray Scorpion's in chrome. I noticed that they are 1" wider than stock (for my configuration anyway). Rear is 11" instead of 10" and the front is 9" instead of 8 1/2". Does that cause any changes in the size tires you purchase?
West Coast Corvettes, one of the board sponsors has a nice program that shows you your year, model, color and brake setup and then you choose your wheels to see what it will look like. They have several wheels including the Cray's.

Just for the record, factory wheels for the C6 have been made in the Orient for years now.
The days of factory Corvette wheels made in USA or Italy ended a long time ago.
Never really liked Cray wheels, they're too heavy and expensive compared to what else is out there. Also don't care for their centercaps. There are some quality China wheels out there if you're on a budget. I have a set of chrome C6 ZO6 Motorsports on my C5 from Factory Reproductions (sold by WCC). They're a good weight and in-round. They balanced well, exactly the same as a set of USA made Alcoa thin spokes that they replaced.
The only USA wheel makers left are the specialists you mentioned but they're expensive at almost $ 900-1000 a wheel.
