try 33 or 34mm, others have used 34mm with no problems

The original nuts on my 08 were 33mm.

New nuts supplied under warranty are 34mm?

They are still changing the torque requirements.

Up to 160 lb ft now. Bulletin 07-04-95-001A.

Do not get torque happy with that nut. 118 lb-ft is all that is needed. Not anything higher. If you are concerned about it getting loose, add a second nut P/N 10257766 torqued to 100 lb-ft.

And the original ones on my car are 33mm. Never replaced them as they have been fine, but the new warranty ones are 34mm.

In TSB's 07-04-95-001A and 08-04-20-003 GM says that if the nut is loose it should be replaced and Loctite'd, not just re-tightened.

That's exactly what my dealer did on my 09Z when I had a loose axle nut. He replaced them both and loctie'd then.

I have the new nuts.

Obtained them under warranty.

Will not use them unless absolutely necessary.

I had only one that was loose. Torqued to 118 lb ft with removable

thread sealer (blue). Will watch the index paint marks I applied.

Will never use the thread sealer recommended by GM. I have worked

with it at the Power Plant and it requires a lot of heat to release it.

That is not the best place to apply a lot of heat.

34mm will work for sure. Others have been able to use 33mm or 1-5/16" sockets are well on the originally installed nuts.

That is a big nut so the tolerance isn't critical. A 33mm will fit some and some need a 34mm. Get the 34mm and it will work with yours.
