Default 2008 Corvette 3LT Z51 6 Speed Manual Skip-Shift

I just recently bought a 2008 Jetstream Blue 6 Speed Manual 3LT Z51 Corvette. The Skip Shift sometimes tries to make me shift from 1st to 4th. I had a 1995 6 Speed Manual Pontiac Trans Am where this was such an annoyance that I bought an after market skip shift bypass. In my Corvette, it is MUCH LESS of an annoyance, but I was wondering if there was a way to deactivate the skip shift feature without doing any damage to the car. Thanks!

you can buy the little thing to deactivate it, or you can get it tuned out. but if you do the latter, that may remove your warranty in part. plus, it is a change to the car's emissions.

Where are you located. I have the bypass connector that I never installed. Sell it to you for 20bucks.

Alternately, you can heed the information on page 3-38 of your 2008 owner's manual. Avoid these conditions and it'll never happen.

This light will come on when:
• The engine coolant temperature is higher than
169°F (76°C),
• the vehicle is going 15 to 19 mph (24 to 31 km/h) and
• the vehicle 21 percent throttle or less.

Drive a little more briskly (rev 1st gear beyond the CAGS parameter), or if CAGS does give you that annoying little shove away from 2nd across the gate toward 4th, just shove it up into 3rd (suggsted or implied in the manual). I adopted these practices and 1 to 4 CAGS quickly became a non-issue. BTW, I have the blown fuse device and never installed it.

Do a search on "smart fuse". A very easy and effective way to eliminate the CAGS.

My preferred solution as well on the last two Z06s. Will be added to my ZR1 next spring.

zero problems since the install. I've read of problems some have had when using the smart fuse.

Put the skip shift eliminator in my C6. Took only minutes to install. Works perfect.
