Wide body conversion...wheels ?..pics???
I was considering buying a used Z or GS, but decided to keep my '05 Z51 since I am building a house. Problem now is that I bent all four of my Cray Scorpions on horribly marked road construction where there was a deep groove cut out of the road for resurface.
Being that I need new wheels, I am seriously thinking about doing the wide body conversion. I am trying to search prices, etc, but it is hard during this season.
Questions:
-Do I have to do front and rear or can I just do the rear?
-I don't care about carbon fiber, so will the GS kit be fine?
-Do I have to get the Z/GS style bumper if I do front conversion?
-If I want to run 19/20 set-up, what sizes should I be looking for?
-How hard is the conversion to do and guesstimate time?
I do have a couple of very mechanically inclined brothers with a couple of shops full of tools, etc, so we are competent in this stuff. Just want to know degree of difficulty and time. I work in Iraq 9 months out of the year and do not want to waste too much of my next vacation tearing apart and putting my car back together. Of course, I can always just drop it off at a body shop with parts and let them do everything...hmm...
Any pics of white vettes with the wide body kit???

Unless you have a 'vert' the rear quarters are all the same.
If you do the front conversion, the Grand Sport conversion is the least expensive. I think it's in the $2500 range for the parts for the FRONT.
$1200 or so for the REAR parts.
You would then have to have them prepped and painted.
You could put them on yourself put I would just have the body shop do it all.
Here's mine with just the OEM Z06 rear quarters, a new hood ($750) , and SIC Mororsports Z06 style front bumper ($750-900).

You can definitely just do the rear if that is what you want. And it's a lot less expensive than doing the whole wide body.

You can find those rims pretty regularly in teh for sale section through used sets or even some good deals from vendors. I have never been a "stock" wheel guy, so I am looking into something else that is not too much and will work with a wide rear end. Basically, if I can get a deal on wheels, I am doing the conversion.

John is a friend of mine and those are REAL OEM Z06 wheels. He has the stock tires mounted currently so they are just about even with the edge of the wheel wells. He is planning to put a Grand Sport front end on his car soon.

Here is my "old" 05 full widebody vette. I sold it months back and now have a vert, but the 05 LMB widebody was very nice. I used all Z06 parts. front, carben fenders and rear. here are a few pics. Also a complete full paint job was done.

I did the rear over 3 years ago, then this year i decided to do the front. I went with aftermarket ZR1 fibreglass fenders, and OEM front bumper and install hardware. I put CCW T10 polished wheels on.

Wow, these cars are sick! Just when I thought I would stick to my current set-up and buy a Z or GS next year, these pics make me want to change it up now!
