2011Grandsport vs 2011 Challenger 383 hemi limited
I guy I know bought a new 383 hemi challenger 470hp. He said his hemi would smoke me. His challenger has more hp but also weighs allot more.Who do you think would be faster. He had a car for about a month now and mine should be at the dealer next week. I guess I got to break her in before we line them up. I will let know what happens. I dont look for races but I,m tired of hearing how fast his car is.

The torque is the big difference. The Challenger throws me back in the seat much, much harder than the Vette and just pulls and pulls. The Vette is much more civilized and brings the power in a much smoother manner and can put the power to ground better which is a big advantage. It is classic muscle car (Challenger) vs sports car (Corvette).
In the end I think the Vette would win but it will be closer than most people would think. The new 392 Challenger is a beast and is a blast to drive.

Since I own both cars maybe I can help. The new 392 Challenger is much improved over the previous Challengers. The torque went from 390 to 470 ft/pounds. HP is up 45 to 470. The top speed of the Challenger and the Vette (non-Z06/Zr1) are roughly the same. BTW, Dodge is under rating the power of the 392. They have been consistently dynoing in the 415 - 435 rwhp range which puts flywheel hp in the 490 -500 range.

I guess if you only use 1/4 mile times a measurement you could be right, but they are not everything. The old 454 and 396 Chevelles were 14 second cars and were still beasts.

only thing that kept me from trading my vette for the 6.4 challenger was the white seats. I am waiting to see if they come with the non inagural edition with regular slate grey interiors. can't handle white leather interiors.
It will be between the 6.4 challenger and the new ZL1 Camaro. I need 4 seats.
I love the look of the challenger over the normal SS camaro's but all the pictures of the ZL1 looks great.
Other advantage of the Challenger over the Camaro is the back seats. pretty much useless in the camaro. the challenger has a real back seat that can hold 3 adults. Thats why it weighs more than the camro too. its a bigger car.
Still gotta love what the mfg's are doing. Dodge, Chevy and Ford all have or will have pony cars pushing close to or over 500 hp.

Apples and Oranges......oh and those Oranges had like 11/2" exhaust, crappy suspension and G78x14" tires that would spin the tires for a city block.

But, having said that, I do like the Challenger, not as much as the Camaro and not even in the same league as the Corvette.

1/4 mile race I'd put $$ on the Vette. the ls3's are also under rated putting down close to 400 whp. the car is a lot lighter also
still, the new challengers are very nice. the seats are way better also.

The competition is definitely catching up to the Vette with Boss Mustangs and the new Dodge, not to mention the 2012 GTR for the ZR 1.
The C7 cant come soon enough.
