That page was last updated in 1999. That's turn of the century information!

Seriously, with the pace of innovation in automotive filtration, the information contained there is of questionable value now.

Just go to "bobistheoilguy" site and check out the oil and filter forums. Those guys change oil more than most do underwear, and have cut open every filter known to mankind.

It can't really be said often enough. The "bobistheoilguy" members flog, obsess on, and discuss every aspect of lubrication on nearly every type of vehicle driven, flown or floated. If you want up-to-the-minute analysis of the latest lubricating oil or filter, head over there and read!

I agree. BTW, I just saw this comparison link on "bobistheoilguy." It seems to be a good comparison.

The chart is for nothing more than to just see how different brands faired against one another. The fact that they aren't specifically for the C6 is somewhat irrelevant in regards to the information it's trying to get across.

Like I said, it certainly is the end-all be-all report...it's just a tool to help make more informed decisions.
Excellent post, thank you.

For what it's worth, this is the best filter site I've seen.

http://minimopar.knizefamily.net/oil...reference.html

My experience mirrors their results. Most filters are decent as long as it isn't manufactured by Fram. Actually solved an annoying cold stafrt valve clatter many years ago just by simply replacing a Fram filter with a Purolator to avoid the leaky cardboard end caps.
Always had good results with Purolator, Mobil 1 and Amsoil, or their cousins. The Chevy dealer where I bought my car actually uses Amsoil EA-series filters for Corvette oil changes.

Did you mean to say M1-113?

Test results and expert opinions vary. I use the ACDelco PF46 oil filter with my fully built LPE 403 motor (which has a high volume oil pump assembly). With 6+ years of regular, hard track use my engine continues to run 5 x 5. I'll stick with what works for me.

Not trying to stir the debate, but if anyone wants to try the AMSOIL Ea Oil Filter, (or WIX as AMSOIL carries these as well), more than happy to get them for you at dealer wholesale, about 25% below retail via the AMSOIL Preferred Customer Program. Drop me a PM if interested.

Here are the applicable part numbers:
05-06:

Other threads on CF indicate that Corvettes using ordinary Mobil1 and the GM filter, are only lasting 200,000 to 300,000 miles before the engine is worn out. I need to change what I'm using.
