Those with blackout kits: how do you pass inspection?
First of all -I live in Texas.
I have an F150 with a very light coat of Niteshades on the tail lights and multiple shops would not pass it on inspection because of it. I had to order new tail lights.
Does everyone here who has blacked out tail lights / side markers have to replace them with a spare set every time they get their car inspected? Or is there some secret that I'm not in on... Seems like everyone in Texas has their tail lights blacked out but how do they all pass their state inspections!?

I just had a shop tell me they could not do the inspection in Williamson County Texas because of the Blacked out Tail lights and blacked out side markers. Does anyone know of an alternative to getting this passed?

Blackout Lights - Inspection
I can own all my guns with no problem, but can black out my rear lights. Love Texas, but like any state they do some stupid stuff.
Passed inspection last year with the same Blackouts, but he would not pass it this year. Same location, different Inspector.
Need to find a friendly gear head without riding all over town.
Knock on wood. I have never been stopped either for the blacked out lights. Frustrating.

It's one of Texas's anti-immigration laws...
Make friends with a shop that does performance mods and tunes. They may be able to point you to a place that is lax on their inspections.

In Hawaii, the cops won't pull you over if they can see the light thru the lens. So I use the clear 2 sided tape. Pop off for inspection, reinstall when I get home. The reverse lights and side markers I use plasti dip. Peel off, spray back on. Here what she looks like
