Default Battery is dead and no manual key....

So....i've been reading some other posts on this topic and i keep reading that the manual key is contained in the FOB. Is this the case for the 2007 Z51? My FOB doesnt look like it opens up.

If not, then i did not receive a manual key when i bought the car used. What do you guys recommend for breaking in?

Thanks for your help.

Correct. 2007 FOBS don't contain the key internally as do later ones.

where's your spare key?The 05 fob I had was with a separate key.I can't remember if that changed in 07 or 08.If your windows are closed, call aaa or warranty tow company if you're still under warranty. You can go to the dealer with the reg, title, whatever proof of ownership, and the vin and they can cut a new key and get a new remote.

A chevy dealer can cut you a key from the VIN but you need to bring proof of ownership of the car.

I have no cue where the key is. Called the guy who had it before me and he doesn't remember ever seeing the key either....... whatever.

I'll just work with the dealer to get a new key cut out. Thanks for your help guys.

My '09 2LT came with the FOB and 2 spare regular keys, for the trunk and glove box (my console doesn't lock)?

No, unfortunately you have a later model C6 that doesn’t come with the console lock, rear hatch pull down grab handle, and under-hood light.

from under the car, jumper cable to starter, ground where you can, then use the fob to open.

The alternative is to get a wire in through the window to grab the door release beside the seat. I doubt that can be done easily without damage though.

Bingo!

And you don't need to charge the battery completely, just enough so your fob can open the door or the trunk.

From the factory, 2009's only came with the two FOBs(marked 1 & 2) that have integral keys. If you have two additional regular keys, they were cut by someone else other then GM.

OnStar will have a bolt of lightning sent from their satellite to your car to power up the door locks. The engineers thought of everything.

Then use your new key to get some extras. About $6/each at most key shops.

Use key blank B-106, same for Saturn cars, widely available.

And if your battery is the 4-5 year old original, get a new one.
