Default Bluestar 2010.... Fantastic

After being frustated with not finding a decent bluetooth solution for 4 years I finally have one thats great. I received it today and after a long complicated install of at least 3 minutes this thing is fantastic. You simply remove 2 plugs from the onstar module and plug them into the bluestar, pair the phone, and you are done. The only downside is that it is no good for people who want to keep onstar active. I have never used it so I figure I can live without. My cell now works through the stereo like it should. I just push the onstar button, and dial either with speed dial on the phone or with voice dialing. The radio mutes and I can actually hear someone speaking to me even with my top down.
It still lacks features of a factory bluetooth system like the one in my charger but it is the best solution I have found for my vette, and I have tried many.

If you couldnt tell, I am a little excited, like I am every time I add something to my vette, no matter how trivial it is.

I'm sorry. I dont know if I am allowed to post a link to a vendor here so just google Bluestar. The company is called Costar. It was 279.00 including shipping and worth it for me.

Did you lose all onstar functions or just the phone portion?

I am not sure because I have never used onstar but I believe you lose all the functions.

There website say's you do lose ALL ONSTAR functions. When installed you remove/ disconnect the ONSTAR module.

Any issues with battery rundown?

I remember reading about this system or another that plugged into onstar sometime last year but there were issues with the battery going dead.

Is this the same system, a never version or something completely different?

I assumed you lose them although I left the module where it is. You move 2 plugs to the bluestar and there were a few other wires that I left alone on the module.

I read about that also. They claim that they fixed it with a software update. I don't have it long enough to know but I did check and like they told me the unit goes off when the door opens just like the radio. I don't anticipate any issue. They have a 60 day return policy in case though.

Small update. After 3 weeks bluestar works flawlessly and I have had no battery issues at all. I upgraded my onstar mic to the new model and people say they here me better. Very satisfied with this Bluetooth solution.

This might be a stupid question, but where is the onstar module located in our vettes? I might have to check this out because I only have the 1lt. If it works for the older versions of onstar, I might have to get one for my yukon and maybe swap between the two if it is that easy to hook up.

I know on the vert it is in the right rear storage box behind the carpet. I am not sure on coupes but I'm sure a google search would find out.

I had a this cause a battery drain, cost me a battery replacement and a 1/2 day off work. The company provided a full refund but had to get support via email which was slow and frustrating. Despite all that, I loved this when it was working. Great sound, really easy to use.

They did have a battery drain issue. They assured me it was fixed with a software update and I have had no issues after about 3 weeks. Even when my vette sits for 3-4 days the battery is fine.

The mic upgrade can be done for around 20 bucks but it is not related to bluestar. The 2011 mic is a direct replacement and aims more towards the driver so you can be heard better while speaking. I noticed a difference in my convertible, because there is a lot of noise with the roof down.

The Bluestar has worked perfectly from day one with no battery drain or other effects. I am very happy with it as a bluetooth solution. Miles ahead of anything else I have tried.
