New Tires - Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus ZP - Run Flat
I am considering purchasing new tires - Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus ZP - Run Flat.
Anyone have any recommendations or comment for or against this tire. I need a good all season type tire as I don't drive on the track.
Any response would be most appreciated.

Just had them installed and I love them. Very quiet, softer than the Goodyears and will handle cold roads better and even some snow. What you give up in performance in summer, you will make up for in winter.
The consensus here has been that they are a great choice and I agree.

I had them on my 09 coupe with z51 and they were great tires, so much better than the goodyear super car tires that came on it. I now have a GS vert with the same super car tires on it except different size and wish they made AS tires for the GS. When i switch tires on the GS i will still go with Michelin though.

I had the Goodyear AS tires and switched to the Michelins about 4 months and 2,000 miles ago. They do seem a little bit softer and quieter than the GY AS. I do not test the handling limits of my car. However, handling seems about the same in dry and wet coniditions. Overall, I am satisfied with the Michelins.
Based on their treadwear ratings, I am hoping they will last longer than my GYers did.

Had them on the convert I sold a couple months ago and loved them. They were quiet, great at highway speeds in a downpour and with 25k miles on them the tread still looked like new.
Far better than the Good Year F1's I have on the new convert. Only have 4k on the new car and looking forward to the day I switch them for the Michelin AS ZP's.

I have them on for about close to 20,000 miles now on my 08'.
They have plenty of tread left, still ride quiet and soft, grear in rain. Buy them, you will not regret.

I'll ad my .02 to this discussion. The Michelin Pilot Zp's were the best "mod" I did for my C5 Vert. I forgot how excellent they were until I replaced it last week with a C6 Vert. The Goodyears are noisy, harsh ride, and the car doesn't feel planted as the C5 did. Will be ordering the new Zp's Tuesday, can't wait to enjoy the C6!!!

Theres nothing to think about. If you have no plans to hit the track why would not buy these tires. For the street only driver.. the Michelin AS+ offer:
90% of the dry grip as "max" performance summer tire
Excellent wet weather grip
Excellent cold weather grip
Very good light snow traction
50,000 mile treadwear
Quiet operation
More comfortable ride
Cheaper than GY pricing
Grip is most important when performing maximum braking or cornering manuvers.. and I just dont see real world scenarios with people doing 100-0mph stops or pulling 1.0G's on any type of public street. Unless your driving habits are pushing the car to above 90% of its maximum capability, these tires are beyond adequate for the street driver. I just cant imagine any type of driving on a public road that would require more grip than what they offer. For the street only driver they simply do everything right.. and for the right price. You can even get them from Costco with free installation.

TireRack user ratings put several reasonably priced ($730 - $1000) tires in the same ballpark as the michelins. Interesting, there are no user ratings for most tires in the $1500 - $1800 range.
Considering the handling of the Vette and the amount of rubber on the road, I have to wonder how many would ever even see the difference between an 8.3 rated tire and an 8.8. Sure, If you race, it's a big difference. But, for an enthusiast, you have a boat load of rubber, handling, & suspension. How can you justify doubling the cost of a set of tires for a gain that you might never see?

Having had very good long term experiences with Michelins, I put them on all our vehicles. I put A/S RF's on my Vette as soon as I brought her home and couldn't be more pleased.
