Default Help with code PO 449

Got a message to check my gas cap then the check engine light came on.I pulled the code : PO 449 EVAP emission control system vent Viv/Sol malf. Can anybody tell me what this means or what I need to do to correct it?Sounds like something to do with a faulty gas cap,but I'm just guessing. Can I get some opinions from the experts out there? Thanks in advance.

Probably a bad EVAP canister vent solenoid valve. Replaced a boat load of those on Colorado's during my Chevy days. If you have access to a scanner then clear the code and see if it comes back. If it does, no big deal to replace it and not a very expensive part. I'm assuming we're talking about a C6 here.

I'm having the same problem. (P0449) I replaced the gas cap, checked the fuse, and cleared the DTC/CEL. The light and code came back after a couple start cycles so the last thing on my list to replace is the vent selenoid valve itself.

I'll probably be replacing the selenoid valve pretty soon, just haven't been in a rush since it's not a very serious problem.

You can buy the part here:

I would definitely recommend checking the fuse first.

Here is some great info from another member that includes pictures:

Hope that helps!
