Anyone disconnect there center dash speaker?
For any of you that have disconnected your center dash speaker, I have a question:
My car is a 2011 GS with the standard non-Bose radio and no NAV option.
I do use the OnStar for Turn-by-Turn navigation and I also use the OnStar cellphone that's built into the car.
When I listen to the OnStar Turn-by-Turn voice commands and use the internal OnStar cellphone, it seems like the audio is comming from that center dash speaker.
Question: If I unhook the wires to that dash speaker, will I not be able to hear OnStar anymore?
Again, I don't want to loose the OnStar or the cellphone fuction.
Thank's

I disconnected mine and also removed it to get a cleaner satellite signal for my GPS antenna. I had a Bose system though.
During my research I do recall hearing w/o the center channel the OnStar would not work. That's just what I read but did seem to be consistent. FWIW

I disconnected On$tar a couple years ago, but as I remember the Nav directions do not specifically come from the center dash speaker; not sure about the hands free phone.
Pretty simple to find out though. The dash speaker cover pops-up very easily and disconnecting the two wires is not rocket science. Then test and reconnect if needed - voila!

I removed my center speaker and have spoken to ONstar and used the phone function many times without issue. In those scenarios sound comes from all speakers. Unless turn by turn navigation is different you won't have a problem. I didn't pay for that feature so I can't test that for you.

Thank's for the replies.
I am going to keep my OEM head unit, but replace the door and rear speakers and power them by a separate 4-way amp.
Then add a sub and power it by a separate 1-way amp.
Then just disconnect the wires going to the center dash speaker.
Right now, it just seems like the OnStar and the OnStar cellphone go into that center dash speaker ... Well, I guess I will find out when I pull the speaker wires to that dash speaker.

i assume I can just unplug the wires and wrap tape around the terminals on wires? I dont have the bose. Way too much mids in system and its almost like the mids output is louder than the rest. Have to turn it up loud to make it sound decent, but then the highs are piercing enough to give me a headache. Im going to unhook the middle and hope it helps. Cant believe how crappy it sounds. if ditching the center speaker doesnt help, I guess I have to spend more $$. I expected the c6 to sound as good as the c5. No such luck.

ah...
because.. if you un-plug it, you can turn up the sound, and it sounds way better...I have the Nav... No center speaker.. way better..
