Recall on the 2011-12 corvette
General Motors Co said it was recalling about 6,000 Chevrolet Corvette Coupes over a concern they may fail to meet a federal safety standard covering rear hinges.
GM said the condition could allow the rear hatch to separate from the vehicle in a crash.
The recall involves the 2011-2012 model years. Of the affected vehicles, the majority were sold in the United States as well as some in Canada.
GM said the issue was discovered in testing and that it knows of no crashes, injuries or customer complaints related to the issue. Dealers will replace both rear hatch hinges free of charge, according to the company.

You needed to get that tire sensor fixed anyway . Those scratches will buff right out.

Does anyone know when that hinge standard went into effect?
It's just possible that all the previous C6's had the weak hinges, but there was no standard they had to meet.
Enquiring minds want to know!

The Corvette Action Center has the entire recall notice posted:

Looks like its two $17 hinges:

I'd really like to see the difference between the two

I guess I’ll just have to tolerate the 15,000 recall reminders GM will keep sending me.
Note to GM: This car was $97k... dispatch a couple guys from Bowling Green to my house to replace the hatch hinges...I trust them.

2021 C6 of the Year Finalist - Modified
Well, the only hatch hinges I see are the 2 up on top in the front of the hatch.
They certainly will need to remove the hatch to replace those.
Just hoping the hatch / rear glass assembly don't get dropped by someone with slippery fingers, or scratched when it's placed upside down on a work bench to change out the hinges.
Yup ... lots of stuff can go real wrong with removing that rear hatch and working on it in the shop ... and you can bet the farm that's it's real heavy too.
Wonder how many of these hatches will get dropped on the cement shop floor before all these cars finally get new hatch hinges?
Ouch !
