Default Flat paint

I have seen a lot of cars with flat or satin paint jobs. Some look real good. I saw a orange viper and the SEMA white vette in flat and they were sharp. I saw a polished aluminum bodied cobra and the racing stripes were brushed. Got me thinking what same color stripes in flat would look like. Anyone thought of this or done this? If so please post pic's or comment.
thanks

Some of them are actually vinyl wraps.

Actual flat paint is a pain in the a$$ to care for.

Be a real pain to mask off the stripes in order to wax the car. But if you really like the look, it might be worth the extra work.

I like the satin or matte paints because you can see the car better. Paints and polishes have gotten too good. The car is like a mirror. You can't really see the lines of the car. As satin paints become more popular, I'm certain Meguiars and others will come up with cleaners and polishes.

I use Turtle Wax ICE and it would not cause you a problem while waxing.

I can't recall any members that have satin stripes but I have seen it and I think they look great. Here are some pics I found on google to give you an idea.

"Matte" black is . It looks bada$$ on certain cars with blacked-out windows, rims etc.

It's not for the "old, I like chrome, know nothing about current style" crowd.

I have Denim black (flat black) on my harley I just picked up. they have a special cleaner spray bottle for it. Or said to just use soapy water. make sure no silicone or wax as it will ruin the flat look of the paint.

I think it looks good when there is a stripe or contrasting gloss color with the flat as a base. Flat on 100% of the car makes it look like primer to me.

While I think the flat colors look cool in some applications isn't the clear coat what gives the paint most or all of it's protection? I would think flat paint would be a nightmare to maintain.

It's the new 2012 Night rod special. I'm actually getting the exhaust changed on sat to an all black TAB exhaust, and the levers and controls swapped out to all black.

The satin/flat black stripes GM puts on the Centennials look pretty sharp imo.

Hard to see in pics, but they start on the hood, go over the roof, hatch, spoiler and end at the top of the rear clip above the plate mount.

After I bought the C6, I had my 05 Mustang repainted flat black for my son.

Contrary to what people are saying, it's NOT a PITA to take care of. They only difference is to use liquid wax instead of paste wax. That's it.

The base coat is a flat black and has 7 coats of clear. Yep, 7. But the clear coat is actually a 50/50 blend of clear gloss and clear satin. Ignore the picture quality, as they're cell phone pics, but you'll get the idea.

Nice!

I like Satin better than flat.
