Will installing Headers on a new Corvette void your warrenty
After reviewing the power increase of the headers. I'm wondering if certain headers will work with NPP exhaust, and will installing them void your warranty?
If anyone knows. I would appreciate the help.
thanks

Just adding headers might not. But most people will have the engine tuned to optimize the headers and its widely agreed that would void the warranty. Probably should check with your dealer to be sure.

Depends on the dealer. I have had a dealer tell me if you blow it up remove all your mods before you bring it in. On the other hand if you have installed headers and have a window motor issue it should be no issue. Check with the dealer first.

And even if the dealer says it's OK, GM might not agree if there is a problem. The whole point of adding headers is more power. That's going to make it easier to break things so, when something breaks and GM wants to cut costs, it's and easy out for them.
I think you have to assume that you have to pay to play.

Thanks guys. Its sounding like I should leave it alone. I'm still waiting on my new GS in which i have been really wanting for a long time, and i dont want to risk harming my new baby.
I will need the warranty on my GS, so I can trade it in on the new c7 when it comes out.

I had headers on my 07 and really liked them. The look, sound and increase in power was awsome. My biggest concern was the visual at inspection sticker time. It never became a problem, but when it was time to sell, potential buyers were more concerned with passing inspection than voiding the warranty. I had the cats and everything in place, but if some tech wanted to be a dick it could have been a problem.

If they can determine that the headers caused the warranty issue or had ANYTHING at all to possibly cause the problem, then YES, it will VOID the warranty.
If you retune the computer after the header install, then it's over. Warranty is gone.

Why don't you call Chevy Customer Service and ask them .....
A thousand replies here will give you 400 yes, 400 no and 200 maybe's. Bottom line is, do you have the money to fight GM if they don't honor the warranty on an engine concern?

I was using my car on the track when it dropped a valve and ruined the engine. Car was still on the 5 year power train warranty but they warrantied it on a Goodwill policy because of the circumstances of the failure. GM did check the ECM tune and verified it had never been changed. I suspect if the engine had been tuned I probably wouldn't have received the Goodwill engine replacement.

Geeze... the question was "Will installing Headers on a new Corvette void your warrenty"
The answer = NO
Installing them will NOT void a warranty.
Sure you can think of hundreds of scenarios where there's a failure of some type that may or may not be hypothetically linked to headers by the service manager at a dealership, but that has nothing to do with the OP's question.

Your right it won't. My statement was simple. Its a good start to being a issue if there is a problem. They will raise scrutiny if a powertrain failure. In another thought they also might hurt resell. When I was shopping I avoided, passed over vettes even with a loud exhaust much less other mods for obvisious reasons.

The problem here is GM does not need to prove anything to deny your warranty coverage. They can refuse your claim based on a mod they *suspect* caused the issue and then it is the owners responsibility to fight that if they believe the failure was unrelated to the aftermarket headers.
Most people don't have the time or money to fight GM on something like this and even if they do, it would probably drag on for years as GM has the money and lawyers to make sure it takes a long time to get to court.
I went into mod'ing with my eyes open. If I have an engine failure of any kind, I won't even bother going to GM for a warranty issue. Luckily, my Corvette is my toy and can sit while I get the funds to repair it. If this is not the case for you, I agree, don't mod your car or you could have GM tell you to go pound sand.
All that said, headers, a tune and a few other bolt on mods made my Corvette a completely different car and I'd do it all again in a second. Screw the warranty. Just my .02.
