Default WARNING - Let my mistake save you some grief (with PICS)

If you have (or plan to get) the Elite Engineering aluminum "Frame-Rails" are powder-coated in black, please don't make the mistake I made.

DO NOT try to jack up one side of your car with these frame rails.

If your lifting your car on a lift using both sides and everything is level you should be fine BUT if you try to jack up just one side, this could happen to you. DON'T DO IT.

The bottom of these frame rails are flat and this can result it the jack sliding off and damaging your car.

I guess I'll be getting the ZR1 front conversion a little sooner than I had planned.

The worst part is that I will need to get my rocker panel repaired.

It reminds me a few years ago I was jacking up my 05 Tahoe and the floor was wet. As I was jacking the wheels rolled and the car slipped and the jack went right into the oil pan....

Default Spent the day upgrading to Z06 brakes - AND damaging my car!

The good news...... I love the new brakes.

The bad news........Damaged my front fender and rocker panel in the process.

More good news.......Time for a ZR1 front end conversion.

See here for damage pics:

Here are the brake pics.

AFTER:

New wheels to be put on after my front end ZR1 conversion.

Well thanks for the warning and sorry that happened, but I don't know what "Elite Engineering aluminum frame-fails" even are.

I jack up my car all the time one side only, however I use the Corvette recommended lift points. Never had an incident.

Sucks, I think this could happen with or without these frame rails. I always jack my car up on one side but I will use a small block of wood or rubber to have some "bite" or friction between the jack and the car.

WOW! Sorry to see that.

That is one of the seldom heard reasons some people prefer the "cheap" hockey puck solution over the fancy metal pucks. The rubber won't slip nearly as easily.

Bummer! Were you using some kind of stationary jack? I use one of those with wheels so it "creeps' as the jack goes up.
