Default Rear End Clunking

I see there is a TSB for this problem, needs to have differential fluid changed. I read on one of the threads that a fellow forum member had a 07 and it was not covered even though the 5 year 100K powertrain warranty was in force. Is this correct. If not, why isn't this covered under the powertrain warranty. They recognized they had a problem with the fluid they originally installed. I have an 08, the bumper to bumper is gone but I have till Sept 12 for the 5 year powertrain. Please let me know if this is or is not covered under the powertrain warranty.

Don't forget to check your axle nuts.

Dealer changed fluid in my 2007 this past summer at no charge, problem solved. Also replaced the mass air flow sensor at no charge.

If the car is beyond the 3/36 bumper to bumper warranty the dealer will not be reimbursed by GM so if they do it at no charge they are eating the cost themselves.

It is basically just an irritation and does not cause any real harm to the car but from experience it took care of the chattering, jerking and clunking problem. They also should re-torque the axle nuts at the same time as that also relates to the clunking.

Mine fixed problem also. Don't forget to immediately go to a parking lot and do some figure eights! It will work the new oil in.

there's over 100,000 post regarding this subject.

it boils down to two things: Change the lubricant, and make SURE you do the figure 8's as stated above.
