Synthetic blend vs full synthetic
My 05, which is immaculately clean at 97539, needs an oil change. My C4, 1994 coupe at 130,000 miles I used to alternate between the Kendall high mileage GT1 synthetic blend and Mobil 1. I realize that was an LT1 and the LS2 is a different animal..
Do you think it'd be ok?

I sure wouldn't risk a syn blend. Not that big a price difference

[QUOTE=VET4LES;1579043890]I'd stick with Mobil 1 as that's what the factory recommended. What's the benefit of alternating? [/QUOTE
The C4 had slight gasket leak which the synthetic seemed to leak through. The synthetic didn't. This engine ( LS2) really is as clean as the showroom. I pretty much had decided the Mobil 1 was the way to go, but always consider options

For 2011 & 2012 GM has discontinued it's GM6094M oil spec(that was met by most any plain old oil) and it's GM4718M(that required a full synthetic oil, and called for in Corvettes through 2010), and replaced both those specs with their new spec called Dexos(that can be met by most any synthetic blend oil).
The 2011 & 2012 Corvettes only require the Dexos spec oil(synthetic blend) and the Dexos spec oil can be used on all previous Corvettes without voiding their warranty(backwards compatible). Of course, any oil that previously met the GM4718M spec(such as Mobil1) can be used in place of the Dexos without voiding the warranty.
You can use a syntheic blend oil without worrying about it.

If I wasn't going to beat on it and change at 3,000 miles, I could run a good quality dino oil. My oil temp on the track has never gone above 239F and on the street around town doesn't hit 200F normally.

if you're past engine warranty, and don't care, do whatever you like. you'll save a few cents per qt.
but there is a reason full syn has been the factory fill since 1992, don't you agree? and as said above, do you know or care what percentage of it is "synthetic?"

I really don't understand all these posts about using something other than the Mobil 1 synthetic. Why would any of us consider going back to dino oil when it has been show over and over how the synthetics are more resistant breakdown to high temperatures and how synthetics hold contaminants in suspension better than dino oil? Do you think this is some kind of conspiracy to get you to buy more expensive oil?
