Default Convertible owners only...manual or automatic?

There is another thread going on right now asking if you have an automatic or manual transmission in your Vette. I would like to ask the same question...but only with the convertible owners.

When looking for my GS convertible a manual transmission was my top priority, but locally (150 mile radius) it seemed all were pretty much loaded automatics. I ended up finding one with the manual and options that I wanted but..... had to travel 375 miles to get it! So this makes me think that the majority of Corvette convertible buyers prefer an automatic.

We purchased an auto on our 11 GS vert, our 09 coupe was manual. We like one just as well as the other, actually the auto is better in the traffic we have to drive in since ours is a daily driver.

Both vettes are manuals, I have owned 5 Corvettes through the years,

I got mine with an auto, since the BMW convert I had was a manual. I like the auto w/paddle shifter better.

The auto really took away the sports car feel for me. It felt like driving a Jag or a Lexus type of lux car. Just set back and cruise. There are times ( heavy stop and go ) that the auto would be nice. When they update the auto, maybe then.
I said I would never buy a stick. When you drive a stick all day at work, you just have had enough! I just couldn't do it with the Vert. Anything else would be a slush box.

In my next life when I have two real legs, I will go back to manual, maybe.

I kind of like the paddles after a few changes ( cow and left paddle conversion) ..Ed

My early on verts were all manuals. Traffic congestion finally got me into automatics and the wife kept me there. She does not really care but does not want to learn how to drive a manual and I think it is a good idea for her to be able to drive the car in case of an emergency. I actually have grown to like the automatic over the years.

I bought my 09 with an auto, the wife drives it as much or more than I do. She does know how to drive a manual by the way. Just didn't want to be shifting it, I get enough of that in my 4 speed GTO.

Looked for a manual-coupe and stumbled on the auto-vert at a great price. Oh well ...

2000 Vert M6 daily driver
2008 Coupe A6 Just sold.
2008 Vert A6 daily driver

I like shifting and I like automatic. As daily drivers I find automatic to be convenient. I'm 52 so the hot rodding and getting tickets are behind me now for the most part so The wife and I just cruise top down and enjoy. There is more to life than hauling *** all the time.

Auto in the GS Vert However now that I am getting used to the manual in the ZR1 I like it Except I can roar off the stop faster in the Auto and not worry about stalling

I enjoy driving the car and not having to work while doing it.

Certainly do realize that it is simply a matter of personal choice and mine is the automatic.

All of my toys have been convertibles and with automatic.

It seems that most verts are autos. As an afterthought, I probably would have wanted a manual based on the sheer fun-factor (it is not my DD). Oh well, I love driving the car anyway, and I can hold my girl's hand while doing it!!

For myself, I have always enjoyed a manual gearbox and running through the gears. My 6 speed vert is a daily driver and when I drive into work and on my way home from work, as soon as I start to shift through the gears, it puts a smile on my face.

Manual all the way. Both my C5 and my current C6 (both convertibles) are a stick. I would not have it any other way. Nothing like the feeling of ripping through the gears.

Manual all the way for me, Over 35 years and numerous Corvettes, ALL of them have been convertibles and ALL of them have been manual shift. I have no interest at all in a Corvette with an automatic transmission. And yes, I've driven the new ones with the paddle shift.

Nothing wrong with them if that's what you want - that's why Chevy offers both. They're just not for me.

I don't have a convertible, but I'm saving up for this one. I think it has a manual trans.
