Hawk Brake Pads - good?
Just ordered the Hawk performance brake pads as my first brake replacement for my 2008 C6. What do you all think? Good replacement for the factory metalics? I don't track it and would like to reduce the dust and noise while maintaining at least some of the braking performance.

Brake pads
Not sure about the Hawks. I looked at them but wound up going with Autozone Duralast brake pads and rotors (front and rear). Was looking for something that was inexpensive yet reliable and I do not track my 2007 Vette. Price was right plus they delivered to my door for free and gave me a total of $65 in rebates. (which I used to purchase a new battery from them)
I wound up paying $393 Incl taxes for pads for the front and rear and also for rotors for the front and rear. They gave me the $65 in rebates which brought my total price down to $328 delivered to my front door.
I'm happy with my purchase and I hope you will find equal success with your Hawk purchase.
Good luck to you and drive safe amigo.
type to you later....

If you didn't get the ceramic pads they'll be about the same as stock in terms of dust. Most here seem to like Hawk pads but quite a few have posted dissatisfaction. Maybe just depends on what a person expects, I don't know.

Thanks for the replies, paid $192 delivered for both front and backs, will pay for an hours labor to have them installed - pretty reasonable.

Was that for pads and rotors or just pads?
For pads, I paid $44 for the fronts and $38 for the rears. ($82 for new pads all the way around)
Of course, I bought mine from Auto Zone and they're not Hawks. They say that you get what you pay for. To date, I'm happy but the AZ Duralast Gold pads and rotors are guaranteed and time will tell....

You should've gotten the Hawk ceramics if you are concerned about excessive dust. I put them on my 11 GS about a month ago and love them. The stopping performance doesn't feel any different than stock pads and there is hardly any dust. I got a full set for $230 shipped.

I use to do all the work on my vehicles when I was younger and had more tools (Built a 71 Nova from scratch back in the day - 350, 4 bolt mains, nice cam, 11:1 compression pistons, V-gate hurst shifter, Holley 850 double pumper).
Thanks very much for the offer, really appreciate it.

Love them. They dust a bit nothing bad if you ask me (I have black wheels too).
Stopping power is great.
Follow their bed in procedures and you'll be good to go

- After installing new brake pads, make 6 to 10 stops from approximately 30-35 mph applying moderate pressure.
- Make an additional 2 to 3 hard stops from approximately 40 to 45 mph.
- DO NOT DRAG BRAKES!
- Allow 15 minutes for brake system to cool down.
- After step 4 your new pads are ready for use.

I had EBC red pads on my old C5, which I loved those. I just put Hawk pads on my C6 a month ago and I'm pretty happy with those as well. However, between the two, I would have to lean toward EBC though.

I had a set [Hawk performance brake pads] installed on my mine, went thru the whole break-in process, Needless to say it was one big SQUEAL to say the least.
Removed them and put back on GM ceramic pads, NO Squeal at all.
If you have no problem with chalkboard scratching sound you will like them.
PS, Installed on a 08 also with Z51 option installed.

I installed new Hawk ceramic pads with Baer rotors on my 08 and followed all instructions, after a short while they became annoyingly noisy so I ordered the GM ceramics and GM cross-drilled rotors and they have been great. Staying with OEM parts made for the corvette made good sense.
