New VIDEO-ZR1 Standing Mile and Review
Hey everyone,
The Smoking Tire has a new episode up. We took a ZR1 to the Mojave Mile, to see if Matt could hit his goal of 180MPH and to review the car. As anyone here knows, this car is insanely fast. And it looks really really good surrounded by blue skies and a desert. I tried to embed the player and it won't work. And I am in now way an IT person. So I apologize for you having to click a link. I know how heavy a mouse can be.
Hope you like it.
Zack

No Real suprise here!
The biggest problem with the ZR1 is "hooking up" out of the blocks. This is where the ZR1 becomes lame, is too far behind to catch up unless covering an exrtemely lot of real estate, especially after the mile and that's no good for a one mile race.

The GTR that was faster was modded. Matt wrote this today about the GTR people yelling on YouTube.

At sea level in good conditions, most ZRs run the standing mile in low 180s. Most stock Zs in similar condition run high 160s, and regular coupes are in the 150s.
Haven't seen any GS run the mile at any of the mile events I've run in, but I would think their trap speed would be a couple mph lower than the narrow body.
