wow get over it
OK... took the 09 C6 Coupe in for a HVAC display problem. Turned out it was my battery (they replaced under warranty) which was causing some error message which made my display go crazy (at least that is the first step; hopefully that fixes it). I pick the car up and there is 6 additonal miles on it; Why? I called the dealership and asked if there was a reason that my car had to be taken for a road trip, since it was just a display issue. They told me that it was because they were trying to duplicate the problem. (Valid reason for certain! I do understand!)
OK.... In my other cars, I would not even care. and on this thing, I have always said... it is just a car, but apprarently, I quess I don't like anyone else driving this thing. LOL *(*#$ GET OVER IT.... GET OVER IT.... When did I develop excessive OCD on this? Wow...

When I got my balancer replaced excessive extra miles was one of the things I was worried about. They put 6 on mine also. It was a lot of work including an alignment so I was perfectly happy with the extra 6.

Welcome to the world of Corvette ownership. Appears when you purchase one of these beauties you are also infected with a virus at no additional charge.

You got off easy. A few years ago when I took my GTO in for service I found 34 additional miles on it. Naturally the dealership denied that it was driven anywhere and I must have noted both my drop off mileage (and I guess fuel gauge, and trip odometers) incorrectly. Long story short never went there again.

That sticky note is a good idea. Usually ill snap a pic of the odmtr w my phone. I took my Caddy to a shop one time and they put almost 80 miles on it! Burned a 1/4 tank of gas. When I bitched to the owner about it, he gave me my labor for free

And, they also have me do a "walk around the vehicle" with them, before they drop it off, and when I pick it up, to note any vehicle blemishes.
This has everyone on the "no blame, just facts" communication level, and I respect them for it.

Although I am a little over protective with my car, this is one issue that I don't worry about. If they need to drive it for whatever reason, go for it.

I would have done the exact same thing you did. If I take my car to the dealer because I have a front end vibration at 50mph I expect them to drive it obviously. Otherwise no joy rides please.

If you install the Window Valet, you can see what the Max RPM and Max MPH was while the car was in the shop.
The couple of times I've had it at the dealer, I reset the valet when pulling in, and pulled up the RPM and MPH when I get back in the car.

Mileage put on by the shop can depend on why the car is there... I had a cruise control issue. Hard to be sure if it's fixed if they don't get it on a road where they can test it. Doesn't mean I didn't worry about it, though.

Similar situation with me when I took my 2010 in for a belt chirping issue. The dement entry level mechanic took my car out and put 30 miles on it. I raised hell with the GM, SM & Service Manager. They asked me how I verified the mileage and I showed them the pic I took with time & date stamped when I dropped it off. I told the GM that I wanted to return the car or I would file a lawsuit for negligence. We agreed on a written committment for lifetime free oil changes on the VIN. I traded off that car several months later to the same dealer and still get the free oil changes.
...........just sayin!
