Great article. No bad Corvettes, some just better than others depending upon what you want from the car.

In my opinion: There is no question in my mind that Z06 with Z07 is the car to get if you have the means. But I am also certain in my mind that I'd rather get a GS if I can only afford a Z06 without the Z07 package. If there were cheap Z06s with Z07 package available in used car market, I'd seriously consider buying that instead of a GS, but there was none whatsoever.

It will be exciting to see what options we'll have for C7s..

It might actually be only 'partly cloudy' over the weekend, so it might be a good opportunity! It is supposed to snow today..

I could also invite my brother, who has an '08 Z51

Yea, the Vettes are great track cars but they do lack steering feel from the factory...the steering is just too light. But this can be remedied with a different tire.

But this would only fulfill my desire for a 427 Corvette.

In reality my 08 is more car than I can handle on the streets anyway.

Very good point. I think this applys to most corvette owners. It would be nice if they gave some lessons to all people who buy new corvettes.

Funny how if an article praises the Vette, us forum members talk about like it was gospel. If an car magazine criticizes the Vette, it's a car "rag" where the writers can't drive.

You guys are just going to have to face it, the fatter tires, track suspension and bigger brakes make it a better track car. Its not 'just for looks'.
Also not true. The vert is equal in torsional rigidity.

The article also states the GS ,Z06, and ZR1 have a wider frame then the base car. Is this true?

I don't think the safety issue is about rigidity; it's about what happens when you flip the convertible car at high speed with no roll cage/bars.

Thats a bit of an misrepresentation IMO.

Firstly, the gripes on here about the magazine reviews are based on the situation where the Vette dominates its competition in the measurables, against more expensive cars, but somehow ends up near the bottom in total score.

Secondly, This article wasnt comparing any car to a Corvette, it was comparing the different Corvette models.

nice to read:

"On the trip, however, I was quite impressed with the all-around competence of the base coupe—it’s fast, muscular, smooth and comfortable, with a relaxed gait in 6th gear (just under 1600 rpm at 70 mph) and highway mileage hovering in the 26–27 mpg range."

base coupe is just awesome for the money...no one can argue with that...

The numbers back me up, so you GS haters can go pound sand!

What surprised me was how the Z06 beat the ZR1.
you can put your dick back in your pants now, honestly i dont really get all of the model snobbery that goes on around this forum. Base vs GS vs Z06 vs ZR1....WGAF? You still got a Cobalt steering wheel just like me

Overall, they lay an enormous amount of praise on the C6. Makes one wonder if there can be much improvement for the new model. We're either going to get an incredible C7 (if there's as much improvement the C6 got over the C5) or we're going to be very disappointed when the C7 finally arrives.

I'm hoping the improvements make me want to trade my C6 for a C7!

Interesting article. Thanks for posting.

It's not model snobbery from me, it's the fact that I was right and the GS haters were wrong. All I hear from you hater jerks is that the GS is a poser car, that's equal to or slower than the base model, and not worth the 5k. Well it turns out it is worth that much if you track your car, and it turns out it's track performance does split the base and ZO6 on track, so you can eat your crow like a man or cry like a baby, your choice.

Nice post. Thanks.
Not mentioned in this article but with the GM warranteed Callaway package available on GS and Z06, Corvette options are even greater!

This is all so confusing to me! One weekend I'm out on the track in my 09 Z51 having a blast & admiring how well this car drives and performs. Reality check, I find that many Porsches appear 1st in my windshield, then move to the rear view mirror. Never mind the rate at which it dispenses with most other cars. Then Motortrend tests a similar car and basically declares it to be the biggest piece of garbage ever made. Now, R&T tests a bunch of vettes and has almost nothing but praise for this family of cars? Which is it?? Sure they have a few minor interior and quality complaints, but most of us just look past those. A vette is like a really sexy, good looking girlfriend that doesn't like to cook or do domestic stuff.......so much fun to drive hard, who's gonna nit pic about the little stuff ?
