Default 2nd Owner .. Does he lose the powertrain warranty?

The reason I am asking this is because of a used 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe SUV I bought for my wife.

The Hyundai is sold new with a 5 yr / 60,000 mile Bumper to Bumper warranty and a 10 yr / 100,000 mile Powertrain warranty.

The 2nd owner will get the remainder of the 5 yr / 60,000 mile Bumper to Bumper warranty, but will not get any of the 10 yr / 100,000 mile powertain warranty (this is not transferable).

So, I was wondering if the 2nd owner of my 2011 Corvette would get the remainder of the powertrain warranty along with the remainder of the 3 yr / 36,000 mile Bumper to Bumper warranty if I sold the car?

Ron,
The second owner would get the remainder of the bumper to bumper and powertrain warranty assuming the warranty has not been voided.

My understanding is the whole thing is transferable. Except in your case since you had the transmission tune done iirc. If there is a power train issue and it is discovered the car has had a tune, GM locks the power train part of the warranty.

Mikey ... I am not selling or tradeing in my GS ... Just was wndering since the Powertrain warranty on the used Hyundai I bought don't transfer to the 2nd owner.

BTW .. I am not at all worried about my Powertrain warranty on my GS with the Chuck CoW tune.

The details of your warranty are at chevrolet.com/owners. According to that the powertrain warranty is transferrable.

According to the hyundai website, their warranty is NOT transferrable.

I believe there is a fee (of course) to transfer the warranty.

I know. You are way to smart for that kind of slip up. I've read many of your posts over time.

The warranty is completely transferable to the new owner as long as it hasn't expired. I am the third owner of my 08 Z and the warranty transferred to me without me doing anything other than showing up at a dealers repair shop for service. Had the engine replaced under warranty in October of last year. The Hyundai warranty is more of a marketing ploy than anything else since most people don't keep their cars the full 6 years so they really don't have to pay out much for the powertrain warranty.

Well, the 5 yr / 60,000 mile Bumper to Bumper (Basic) warranty on the Hyundai [is] transferable.

It's the 10 yr / 100,000 mile Powertrain warranty that is not on the Hyundai.

Hyundai has sum funky rules about their warranty, it's not all it's cracked up to be, even for new owners.
