Default 2012 Steering Wheel

Ordered it, received it,
Now how do you remove the switches? Its not built the same as the older models with one screw to remove. What am I missing here?

Thanks

Why remove the switches? The new wheel comes complete...

Thanks folks,
I figured it out. Its a post and glue for the black part and 2 star screws for the button ones while the third is a post friction fit for the bottom.

3LZZ06,
I am painting the chrome parts to match the threads (yellow) and style for the interior. There was a thread on this last month.

Should look great!!!

Finally an inexpensive, classy solution for the '06-'11 "Malibu" steering wheels.

I'm ordering one today...

So did I but... I only found a manual wheel with red stitching, I have an '07 A6. I did this same switch once with a 2011 manual wheel without any problem. Can I put my paddles on the new '12 manual wheel?

Also, I dont have wheel control capabilities (need new clockspring) is there a solid spoke cap to replace with?

Thanks, but, Im using an '11 wheel (old style) with paddles now. The '11 came with audio and Bluetooth, I couldnt use either without a whole new clockspring, so I ditched the button and put my solid caps on.

I need to know if the back of the new wheel is the same so I can put on my paddles.

I ordered one on Saturday, it still says processing under order status even though my card was charged on Saturday. I hope it ships soon, I wanted to put it in this week-end....oh well.

I'll check it out later and see the deal.
Looks pretty much the same from my minds eye.

Have a 06 A6 vert w/ NAV and the factory wheel. Can a newer wheel with audio controls be added and be functional ? If so how big of a process ??

Wheel Swap is pretty easy. While you are in there check this out if you have the A6.

http://web.mac.com/dbrat10/C6-A6/

It is well worth it, As my current wheel is set up this way

No, your clock spring (sir coil) is different. Youll need to change it ($153 GMPartsHouse) and then you can the new wheel.

My understanding is the 05 is the only car to replace the clock spring. on a wheel upgrade.

Nope, I bought an '11 wheel with BT and Audio Controls for my '07 (which had no wheel controls). I brought it to Sound Advice to install with the ASWC Interface to use with my Pioneer. It did not work due to the clockspring.

You do need a new clockspring for button functionality, otherwise the whell works fine. The paddle modules appear to be the same.
