Default C6 test-drive .. Some questions for you with pics!

Hi guys,

Today I did a c6 test-drive in my town (the Netherlands) that is for sale on the internet.
The car is from 2007, and I looks very nice from the in and outside.
No scratches or damage so far I can look.
The car is exported to luxembourg (nearby Holland),
I also did a carfax.

I want some opinions from you..

This is the car
(watch the strange line at the end of the hood)

And this is the carfax:

Ok that's done! hehe,
my questions are:

1/ The car has driven only 8.500 miles!!...
I think this is way low, but when I look at the carfax it's not impossible..
Maybe long for sale at different dealers?
What do you think?

2/ In the odometer menu I read: Oil 36% remaining.
Is this normal?

3/ The tires are NOT stock..
And in the display the message is displaying: Warning check tire pressure sensor.
According the owner this is because the sensor is not there anymore.
Is it possible to turn this warning off?

4/ When I press the options buttons its saying: No options available.
Is this normal?

5/ The test-drive was really nice, the car handles very well.
The only thing was a little bit strange behaviour when I slow down and hit the brakes. It feels like some not straight brake discs.

Thanks for answering guys!

Further..
Car doesn't have HUD and no heated seats
Not really a BIG problem, but I was nice it was nice when it was available

If you guys are positive I think I'm going to buy this vette.
Thanks

The car looks clean from the pictures. If the price is right, go for it!

Here are some answers to your questions ---

Mileage is totally possible. I bought an 09 earlier this year with only 3,600 miles.

Oil life remaining just means you have some time left before you need to change the oil. I would change it immediately after buying.

If the TPMS modules are not inside the aftermarket wheels, I would buy new ones, install them on the wheels, and program them to the car. There are procedures on here to help with that or you can take it to a dealer?

Not sure about the options button...could that be because there is no HUD?

Hard to believe the rotors are warped after so few miles but it may be possible.

Just my opinions here, do you have a mechanic that can look it over for you?

Just guessing on this but the the car fax indicates the car may have been originally purchased by a used car dealer or some other type of dealer. This happens a lot in the US. They keep the car for a while, put a few miles on them and then sell them through a retail sale or an auction.

2/ In the odometer menu I read: Oil 36% remaining.
Is this normal?

Yes, although the GM rules are change the oil at least once per year, or every 15K miles or when the OLM drops to 0.

3/ The tires are NOT stock..
And in the display the message is displaying: Warning check tire pressure sensor.
According the owner this is because the sensor is not there anymore.
Is it possible to turn this warning off?

Yes, you can hit the reset button on the DIC to get the message to temporarily disappear but you will not be able to disable traction control and active handling or use competition mode since the car is programmed to automatically force AH and TC on if the sensors are missing or reporting a flat tire. Not sure about vehicles that GM exports directly but they may not react the same to a missing sensor. If so, and the Netherlands owner had a GM dealer program the car so it didn't turn on AH and TC due to a missing sensor then you might be OK. Otherwise, you will need to have tire pressure sensors installed.

4/ When I press the options buttons its saying: No options available.
Is this normal?

That sounds like the Key Fob isn't programmed as either Key Fob 1 or Key Fob 2. The car can have several Key Fobs programmed but the first two are the only ones recognized as 1 and 2. The only way to change that is to do a complete erasure of the Fob programming and then reprogramming the car. There are instructions in the Owner's Manual stating how to do that.
5/ The test-drive was really nice, the car handles very well.
The only thing was a little bit strange behaviour when I slow down and hit the brakes. It feels like some not straight brake discs.

There could be some uneven pad deposits on the rotors.

Car doesn't have HUD and no heated seats

Both of those features can be added to the car but will take some work. Several vendors in the US sell a HUD addition package and some of them install the package. Best to discuss adding heated seats with a vendor like GM Parts House or Parts Taxi (both forum vendors) here in the US to see what is involved.

Bill answered your questions better than I could but I did want to comment on the exhaust. That exhaust looks just like mine and mine is stock (until May when I put NPP on ).

I believe it is the stock exhaust. Good luck and welcome to the forum.

The car does not appear to be a European spec Corvette. It does not have:
  • Headlight washers
  • Amber rear turn signals
  • Side repeater lights in the front fenders (just forward of the coves)

Do you know where the car was first sold?

Carfax says Kansas then exported from Houston. OP says he is from the Netherlands where the car was exported to but now the car is in Luxemburg which is about 100 miles or so across Belgium.

It is not European spec and that might be why it is up for sale.

To the OP. $50k is a lot of money for a car that is not European Spec. I would check the import and registration laws of the Netherlands before you buy it. You may be looking at high expenses later on to make it legal.

In the states you would be looking at around $30k for this vehicle, so around $20k less. It may be cheaper to make a trip to the US and ship a C6 back especially if you have to convert it anyway.

The tires have been replaced. I wonder why they took the sensors out though. The current tires are one of the best you can buy for a C6. I don't think they are runflats though. What does the odometer say for the mileage?

Carfax might not have tracked it once it was exported.

Everyone has given you good advise. I was looking at the picture of the nose of the car and the condition of the paint in the close up. It does not look like the factory finish in that area. Look for signs of body work on the nose. Might have been minor. The car from what I can see looks like it needs a major clean up and detailing. Car Fax and others may not have accident information. Just check it our completely.

No mufflers, under carriage seems dirtier then a 8500 mile car.
Rims what are those ???

Go with your gut, if doesn't feel right its telling you
something. You see and touch the car, CF doesn't

The only problem is the headlight beam that must be changed.

C6 is a low car, so front-end rock chips & scraps are common. And some folks have trouble judging the distance to the front when parking, causing minor damage that would explain a front-end re-paint.

Scraps & damage to rocker panels (under the door sills) is also common, especially if the car was carelessly lifted without pucks.

Of course, look underneath for evidence of major damage, especially the lower radiator support.

After you change the oil, it is easy to reset the Oil Life Monitor to 100%. See pg 341 in the online owner's manual:

Besides the tires not being original equipment, neither are the wheels. That might be why the car does not have the tire pressure sensors installed. They might not fit on the wheels that are on the car.
