Best battery tender/charger
I have a trickle charger now for my vette, but I have been looking at a battery charger/tender that plugs into the wall socket and the cigarette lighter in the car.
I would like to know if its a good idea to keep a car charged during a "not driving" period, with this thing, or a keeper that is attached to the battery instead.
The part number is; 20929740.
Any comments on this is appreciated.

My Battery Tender gets plugged into the cigarette lighter during winter storage for my Vette and other vehicles. Never an issue and the cigarette lighter/acc. port is fused if there were. I personally see no advantage to going directly to the battery but a lot of people do attach to the battery directly. Whatever makes you feel comfortable.

I got this one from Home Depot for $19.99. It comes with three ways to attach, screw on lugs, alligator clips and a cigarette lighter plug. I mounted it on top of my garage door opener and have the cord drop down and plug in the power plug in the console. No cords to trip over and no chance of driving away with it plugged in.

I have three of my cars(including the Z06) and my mower on Harbor Freight float chargers. They are on sale quite often for around $7. They don't have the cigarette plug attachment but it only takes a few minutes to connect to the supplied attachment points under the hood. I leave my hood part way up, so I have a visual reminder to disconnect the float charger before driving off.

If you already have a battery tender, there really is no need to buy another. If you want to be able to connect your existing one via the cigarette lighter, you can get an adapter for that. Assuming your tender has these type connectors, most do.

Personally, I like having an exterior connection for convenience.
They sell a cord with fuse and ring terminals, but it is only about 18" long. Not long enough to get to the grill or license plate area.
I bought one of these 12' tender extension cords (they have 25' also) cut it and crimped a fuse holder and ring terminals onto it. Ran it out by my license plate and attached to the plate screw with a wire retainer. If you do this, the "male" tip is the ground/negative connection.

My battery is in the back, and the way I park close to garage wall is more convenient in back, but you could connect it under the hood and zip tie it in the front grill too.

I've had a Battery Tender Jr. since I bought my 2008 and have never had a problem with it. I hook it up directly to the battery. Was traveling for 30 days last November. When I returned home, went to the car and it started up immediately. No problems.

If Elvis was still around, he could have his own brand of battery maintainer for corvettes. I think he should name it CHARGE ME TENDER (I want my commission should his estate decide to move forward with the plan)

I'm not sure I understand why you need a battery tender, as long as the car is driven at least every few days. Just sitting 2 days I can't see the need.
For those who live in a snowy area and you don't drive the car over the winter, maybe so. Why can't you drive the car in the winter though? Very few places have constant snow cover ... surely there are days when the roads are totally clear, or plowed and treated well.
