Default Going from Firestones to Nitto or Hankook

2010 C6 Coupe with 8.5" x 18" front and 10" x 19" rear wheels. Currently have Firestone Wide Oval RFT's but want to got non RFT's and larger. Thinking about stepping up the tires two sizes front & rear to 265/35x18 front and 305/30x19 rear tires from the stock 245/40x18 front and 285/35x19 rears on the stock wheels.

Nitto Invo's don't have a 265/35x18 front tire, just a 255/35x18 but do have 305/30x19's. I know quite a few CF members have and love their Nitto Invo's, but I want to keep the two steps up ratio between front & rear tires.

Hankook Ventus V12 EVO tires come the the 265/35x18 and 305/30x19 rear tires. The price is $80.00 difference between the two with the Hankook's being the higher, not a deal breaker though.

Will probably go with the proper 2 steps up match with the Hankook's.

Hankook Ventus V12 EVO owners let me know how you like them.

What do you expect to gain by going up two steps in size?

i have the hankooks on mine in those sizes.i removed and sold firestone wide oval rft's to install the hankooks. i love them. i have allways seen the nittos to be the more expensive tire though.

i am on my second set of rears. i have had the nittos before very nice tires , i prefer the hankooks lil cheaper seem to be a lil better in the rain (my car is dd)

really you cant go wrong with either tire.

Read in another thread that the Hankook's ran a little small and you needed to step up a size or two to match the OEM GY's or the Firestones. Is that what you see in these tires?

both nitto and hankook seem to be a lil smaller than advertised. i have 305 on the rear . they look a lil wider than 305 nittos but i have never had or seen hankooks in a stock size so i cant say if they appear a lil narrower than stock gy's. most of it is the actual design of the itre the gy's have a wider look because the tire is more square where the sidewall meets the tread. the hankooks and nittos a more rolled from sidewall to tread.

KX, I've read where the Nitto's and Hankooks run a little narrower for the same size Goodyear or Firestone. I also want a little more tire width in the rear since I now have 400 rwhp, not a barn burner amount, but the current 285/35x19 Firestone Wide Oval RFT's don't quite grip when I get on it in 1st & 2nd gears (MN6). The two steps larger Hankooks will fit on the stock width rims also.

Stones;
front 8.2 tread width, 25.7 diameter
rear 10.4 tread width, 26.9 diameter

Hankook;
front 9.1 tread width, 25.3 diameter
rear 10.8 tread width, 26.3 diameter

Nitto;
9.96 overall width, don't know exact tread width, 24.96 diameter
12.36 overall width, don't know exact tread width, 26.22 diameter

I also understand you want to maintail 1:1 - 1:3 ratio front diameter to rear diameter. These choices do that.

I just put on Michelin PSS. 305/30/19 and 255/35/18. I also replaced Firestones and the difference is amazing. I highly recommend them. The 305s fit perfectly and these 2 sizes give the closest to stock height difference.

I have the hankooks v12 evos and am pleased with them. Great grip in dry and wet, softer and quieter ride as well... Over a year of daily driving and they still have plenty left in them as well.

Are those Michelin Pilot Super Sports? Discount tire has them for $1440 for the 4 compared to Hankook Ventus V12 EVO at $1110 for the 4. Course, Michelin's are a GREAT tire.

I don't know where you got your info from but I have 265/35ZR18 Nitto Invo on the front of my Vette and 325/30ZR19 on the rear, when these wear out I will replace them with 275/35ZR18 and 345/30ZR19.

Why not Bridgestones? RE-11 seem to be very popular...

I put the Hankooks, standard size on the rear only as the front Michelins still have plenty of tread left. No handling problems, good in wet weather, quieter too.
