Bug removal

Bug removal
It's love bug season down here in Florida and my Z really got plastered yesterday. I usually clean it up right a way, but last night I got plastered myself and did not get to take care of it (not driving the car, but at home). Today I tried the usual removal methods and then grabbed a can of lemon Pledge spray. It removed the dry bugs better than anything I have ever tried before. Try it, you may like it. Just spray it on, let it work for a minute, and wipe it off.

I'll wait for the experts to chime in, but I'd be wary about anything that makes it too easy to remove bugs or road debris. It's likely removing whatever wax you have on there as well.

Mine's a daily driver in Florida, and I cannot get to a car wash every day to get them off either. Here is what I do:
I go to a pressure hand spray wash down the street, and hit the front of the car first. Then, wash off all the brake dust, the rear end, and spend the rest of the time on the windshield and front area.
When I get home, the few that are left (or brand new) get a shot of detail spray wax. That softens up the remains of what is left, and I have extra wax where I need it most.
If I know that its going to be a day trip in love bug season, I put a strip of saran wrap across the front of the car, and peel it off when i get home. I carry a water bottle and some paper towels, and wipe off the soft ones when I stop or get gas.

I've had success in getting just about anything off the paint with WD-40. Took about 1/4 thick paste of love bugs off my wife's Suburban in a few minutes. But you do have to rewax that section right away so I don't use it for little jobs.

I've got to make a trip up to Orlando in a few weeks. I guess an extra few coats of wax on every leading edge and stops at every wash station on the turnpike
Last year I took my wife's Volvo, but it was such a mess when I got back, I think she'll make me take my DD

I use Z6 - Zaino Ultra Clean Gloss Enhancer Spray to spray on the bugs, then wipe them off with a cotton cloth. It Works Great! The bonus is that it also enhances the shine
