magnetic drain plug
Just did an oil change and replaced the original oil plug with one that has a magnetic tip at the end that I purchased from a forum vendor. I'm now thinking if that was necessary or a waste of money.

Mine usually have some metalic paste stuck on the magnet when I change the oil, so they work. I would rather have the drain plugs grab that crap then have it circulated through the oil pumps before it gets to the oil filter.

if you really want to collect all the ferrous metal floating around your block, take a few magnets from an old computer hard drive and stick them on the bottom of the oil filter. remember these magnets will not pick-up non ferrous metals. (non ferrous meaning iron in appreciable amounts)
