Default Any hotel recommendations for Bowling Green?

I'm planning a road trip with my son to the National Corvette Museum and I know there are plenty of people on the forum who have done this. Do you have any particular recommendations for hotels while there? Also - any good places to eat?

Holiday Inn convention center, Hilton Garden Inn and the Courtyard Marriot are all good choices as they are about a 10 minute drive from the NCM and assembly plant and are within walking distance to a couple of very good restaraunts. The Holiday Inn has a bar in house. All three of these are within a five minute walking distance to the Montana Grille which is one of the best values (great food, great bar, great service) in Bowling Green.

For places that I can personally recommend:

Baymont Inn & Suites 270-843-3200*

Courtyard by Marriott 1-270-783-8569

Drury Inn Bowling Green 270-842-7100

Hampton Inn (270) 842-4100*

Holiday Inn University Plaza * (270) 745-0088

* Discount for NCM members.

If you want a very nice dinner with great food, great service and awesome people I recommend the following in this order:

1. 440 Main - 440 E Main St
Bowling Green, KY 42101
(270) 793-0450

2. The Brickyard cafe - 1026 Chestnut St
Bowling Green, KY 42101
(270) 843-6431

3. Mariah's - 801 State St
Bowling Green, KY 42101
(270) 842-6878

If you want a fairly casual meal again with fair prices, great food and service....The Montana Grille 1740 Scottsville Rd Bowling Green, KY 42104-3350 Phone: (270) 746-9746.

I've stayed at the Super 8 thats located between the plant and the museum 3 or 4 times. they are Corvette friendly and have a spigot and hose on the west end of the building so you can clean up your vette in the evening, in the shade. It's relatively new and is very clean. Price is good also. Hot breakfast.
From which direction are you entering Bowling Green?

Super 8 was fine, price is right and location is excellent. As for food Talon90 covered that pretty well, so go with his suggestions.

Both times I've planned the trip to Bowling Green for our corvette club, I've arranged everyone to stay in the Drury Inn. Everyone loves it!

Based upon this last week, let me tell you one NOT to go to......Country Hearth Inn (the hotel right accross the street from the museum.

Stayed there this week. Ended up moving Friday night to another hote, due to the smell of mold......

Being able to walk to the museum is a great benefit of this place. However, the conditions I experienced will keep me from staying there again.

Stayed there the first time I went to Bowling Green, some 8-10 years ago. Carpet was black(from dirt), smelled. Since then, have only stayed at the Super 8 and 100% happy. Plenty of other good places to stay also.

We just stayed at the Country Inn and Suites and loved it. Great parking, hose and bucket and towels to wash your car. Fresh hot cookies always available and a great breakfast. Room was spotless and the beds felt like we were at home. We hated to leave.

I've never been there but a bunch of us are staying at the Microtel in June when we come out there. I believe its across the street from either the factory or the museum?

Default Where to stay

For the best night life, I recommend to stay in downtown historic Nashville. 1 to 1.5 hours drive to Bowling Green. Plenty of great places on the main strip with awesome ribs.

I'm coming from Northeast (New Jersey). I'm planning on doing about 400 miles a day (half the distance) so I am probably going to stop for the night going and coming back in Flatwoods, WV and stay in Days Hotel. Seems to have a good rating in AAA and decent reviews.

Thanks for all the info, everyone. Very helpful.

I always stay at the Holiday Inn and eat at least once at Rafferty's.

For the 09 caravan we stayed at the Opryland Hotel in Nashville. Excellent.

If you're coming down I-65, just south of Elizabethtown, at exit #86, is a restaurant called The Whistle Stop in Glendale. Great place to eat. Just east of Glendale, near New Haven, is Marker's Mark Distillery. They have a great tour(don't mess with Jim Beam for a tour..dull). You can visit the Lincoln Museum and Birthplace while you're on US32E. Also, if you're interested in Railroad history, there is a nice museum in New Haven and also a nice museum in Bowling Green.

Also, a little further south, if you get off I-65 at exit #71 and take hwy 728 west then hwy 259 south, then US31W into Bowling Green, you will drive some beautiful countryside skirting around Mammoth Cave NP.

Super 8 has a great price and very Corvette freindly. Hose to wash and even gives you a goody bag if they know you have a Corvette. I've stayed ther quite a few times now and always had a pleasent stay.

This will probably be where I try to stay in the future....where I was (Country Hearth), they would not let me use their hose....amazing being so close to the museum.
