Default Well, it finally happened to me. Dead battery.

I've been reading the dead battery threads for years. So it was finally my turn today. Went to the car after work, wouldn't start. Couldn't jump it either. Called my son, pulled the battery out and took it to Autozone. Dead. Dropped a new battery in, started it up, indexed the windows and good to go. 4 years, 2 months and 32,500 miles.

Doesn't sound like the usual dbs issues on the corvette. You got your monies worth out of that battery. Call it maybe worn out battery or WOB. Good job of handling the issue easily without the usual panic we see on the forum!

Still good here on 2005 with 44,000 miles and I don't use a battery tender. Driven once or twice a week.

Makes me wonder if the batteries made in 2005 models are better than the later batteries. It should be the opposite.

Batteries die, simple fact of life in owning a car. Some die sooner, some die later, all of them die. It bothers me that the Corvette to this day still has a stigma attached to it from the 2005 DBS issues. Threads like this somehow indicate to me that owners wake each and every day of owner ship wondering if "this will be the day" that my battery dies. I have a 2005 built in October of 2004 with the original battery from the factory and a little over 39,000 miles. I use a tender when the car will sit for more than a few days and I drive the car, alot.

You can take precautions to extend the life of your batteries and take some of the worry away or you can choose not to and just replace it when it dies, but it will die eventually.

My '07 w/23k is going on 5 1/2 years now with the "stock" battery. Doing good so far and hope it still has a while to go.

Just put in battery number 4, car delivered to me in Oct 04. 28K miles, daily driver. First 2 were GM/Delco, last 2 were local off brand. Each one lasted about the same amount of time. Even the first DBS ravaged one. AZ heat is usually the main limiting factor with our batteries here.

For Canus... When you lose power, if the windows don't index properly (drop a little when you open the door and then fully close when you close the door) you can re-initialize the power window index-up feature yourself using the window up button as described in the owners manual.

On my other cars I routinely replace the battery at 4 years. On the vette I may go with 3 years. Why wait until it dies? A weak battery is hard on the alternator and often people have to replace it after running a battery until it dies. ... I don't run the car until the gas tank is empty so why do it with the battery?

That happens to me at some point with all my cars. Four plus years is a decent service life though. Good luck on the next four years!
