How hard over is Virginia about running with no front license plate?
???
Do they care?
Here, they couldn't care less. Been running without one for four years. Only got stopped once, but that was on a military base, and I only got a warning.
I know it's the law, but they don't enforce it here. Even the cop cars here (private vehicles) don't have them on.

I never ran one on my C6 - never got stopped. I did get stopped in the C5 - on the way home after buying the car. Got a warning - but the officer was a ***** about it. I guess it will depend on the Officer.

I've never been stopped just because I didn't have a front plate, but many times the leo that stopped me for other things obviously also checked if I had one. (I do now just for that reason.) But after one of our club autocrosses the cops sat on the exit road and got the only two that were missing the plates. $120 fine and not a fix-it. The judge didn't care that they now had plates.
As more and more cities discover it to be a quick and painless way to make money, more will be doing it. You are just asking for a ticket now if you drive outside the major cities in TX with out that front plate.
Get a Top Flight holder and a body color surround and after a few weeks you will get used to the look.

I'm in VA and after 2 years, I finally succumbed to getting the removable plate.
Too many road checks going on in my area and I had been lucky in not being stopped and ticketed.

I just purchased a removable mount off the eBay site for $40. Figure that it was cheap insurance. I never mounted it. I just mount the front plate on the mount, then got the double side tape dirty and kept it in the trunk. I got stopped once but I showed the cop how the double side tape didn't hold and I am going to get a stronger tape. The cop just let me go without any problem since he sees that I do have a front mount.
I would not mount the plate unless I can't get away with the "my front mount fell off" excuse.

I've not run one on any of my toys since 1994........ Trans Am GT, Comp T/A, Soltice GXP, GTO, and now the vette... my wife however, got written twice with her Firehawk for no front tag..... so: why pull a bald headed guy over for no front tag when you can snag a blond driving a black Firehawk right?

I got 2 tickets in the same week by the same cop. He told me I was a slow learner. I had gas so I passed it. Thank you Officer took the ticket and went my way. I mounted the plate though

Left VA at 18 for the military, I had a 1997 Dodge Dakota with a custom Stillen front bumper that I didn't want to drill holes in and ruin the look, so I put my plate on the dash in the front windshield...within 7 months of that bumper on, I was never pulled over for it directly, but got a ticket for speeding and they added that "fix-it" ticket on top of my speeding ticket.

Sounds like quite hard over.
Btw, reluctantly I run one. I sure have better uses for $150.

2021 C6 of the Year Finalist - Modified
You need to remember ... Virginia is basically a Communist State.
Get caught without front plates and you might be looking at 1 year in the state prison system.
Let them catch you with a radar detector in your car and see what happens to you. It won't be pretty!
Just remember ... Virginia is not a "Commonwealth" for nothing. The last state I would ever want to live in.
