Default New Seat Available With Better Support That Gains Headroom!

We are now taking orders for our new seats. They are made to order in about 4 weeks from deposit. Anyone near SE CT is welcome to contact me to sit in one before ordering.

Our new FRP bucket seat has tapered side bolsters for ease of entry and exit while still providing excellent support. The center of the bottom has been designed to drop down between our sliders and mounting brackets to allow maximum headroom. The shell can drop to the carpet if necessary and still slide forward and back to accommodate different driving positions. The rear cushion can easily be removed if and when needed. There is a sub belt opening in the seat. We have found the tapered side bolsters allow seat belts and harnesses to tighten when installed over the side bolsters and so have not added holes in the sides. We can look into that option if preferred. The seat below has a shell hip dimension of 16.25" (excluding foam) making it comfortable for many drivers with waists into the upper 30's. A wider version which adds 1" to each side to side dimension can also be special ordered. The wider version will not fit in the C5 but should fit in the C6. A test fit should be done soon. Our mounting brackets have provisions for mounting a 4, 5 or 6 point harness and the stock seat belts.

Bucket Seat and Option Pricing:
Each seat in black cloth - $699
Each seat in leather - $999
Suede inserts - $50
Contrasting double stitching - $20
Available logos - $49
Painted shells - $180
Mounting brackets w/sliders - $299

Our seat conversion below is recommended for those wanting to retain the power tracks and not loose headroom. It is a custom seat back that bolts to the stock bottom. We make the complete back and provide a matching cover to reupholster the factory bottom. We can also add sub belt openings for the bottom if needed. This is a great option for C6 owners who want a less complicated install with regards to airbag issues. Since the o/e tracks and seat bottoms remain, your car still has the seat track positioning sensors (used to determine the force with which the front airbags will deploy) , o/e seat belts and pre-tensioners and passenger occupant detection system still in the car. You should only need airbag simulators for the missing airbags in the seat backs to keep the remaining airbag system functioning. This all applies to those wanting to replace their C6 seats for daily driving. If you only need to replace seats for track use, installing our bucket seats on our brackets that can be quickly swapped in and out for events might be a better option. This way your stock interior and airbag system is unaltered for daily driving. Either way, we can help! Upholstery in C5 or C6 styles available.

Our C5/C6 seat conversion pricing is listed below.

Each Seat in leather - $999
Perforated leather inserts - $45
Suede inserts - $50
Contrasting double stitching - $20
Sub belt opening - $50
Available logos - $49
Seat Heaters - $119
Power Lumbar - $139 (must*supply power and ground)

The factory seat back release cables are needed to complete this conversion. You can either send us the cables from your stock seat or we can buy new ones from GM so you do not need to disassemble your seat. The cables and trim bezel that surround them are currently $60. The cables have a plastic lever that is color matched to your interior and not all colors are available from GM. We will notify you if we cannot supply the color you require.

I would think the wide. The mold for that will be ready sometime in June.

We could not fit the wider version prototype in the C5 because the seat belt retractor takes up too much room. There is only about 18.5" between the retractor cover and the tranny tunnel. I know the C6 is wider but am not certain how much.

Can someone with a C6 provide the approximate width of the C6 at the location of the X's in the photo above, or across the width of the rear studs in the floor? I may not have time to measure one myself until next week.

The seat is about 19 lbs. However, we made our brackets to be sturdy and have locations for mounting harnesses and seat belts. The bracket (slightly modified from below) weighs about 10 lbs. and then you add the sliders and side mounts used for installation. All the hardware is about 20 lbs. There are ways to install using lighter hardware without a slider but then you wouldn't need our seat.

We are working on reducing the weight of the seat by 2-3 lbs. We have also made aluminum side mounts which save another 2 lbs.

Our new brackets have more locations for mounting lap belt and stock seat belts.

Here is a seat in torch red leather w/red alcantara suede inserts.

The pictures below help explain the headroom that can be gained with our seat. The top picture shows the underside of our seat mounted with sldiers on our brackets. The "A" pedestals drop into depressions in the o/e floorpan. The area of the bracket labeled "X" is just above the carpet in the car. As you can see the seat can actually drop lower than that for other vehicle applications but reaching the floor in the C5/C6 is not a problem. The second picture shows the o/e seat bottom height compared to our shell. You can lift out the rear cushion to go really low or sit in between the two lines with our cushion in place. Of course, you can easily sit higher if prefered.
