Default Grinding/Marbles Noise When Accelerating

I have a 2009 Z06 that makes a strange noise when accelerating normally from a stop. As I let out the clutch and the vehicle starts to accelerate, there is a sound that I would describe as a grinding or like a bunch or marbles hitting each other. If I keep the RPM up higher, the sound doesn't seem to happen or it not as bad. It usually happens under about 1000-1200 RPM. Any idea about what could be causing this sound?

Mine does the same thing. I was told it was normal noise from the torque tube.

Totally normal. It's the torque tube/drive shaft interaction.

Default Check exhaust manifo clamps.

My C6 06 A6 F55 made "jingling" noises since I had it new. I took to dealer and mentioned about a noise in bell housing area. Here is what they did, replaced the harmonic balancer, the "jingle" still there. I took a broom stick and poked around the bell housing area and heard the "jingle" on the exhaust manifo (headers) area to the tail pipes. Well, the clamps between the pipes were loose since I got the car new. I tightened the clamps up AND the "jingle" is gone. Yea!

Your use of the word "marbles" is a dead give away

The Z06 is just chock full of noises that you don't normally hear in a car. This is one of them.

The clutch throw-out bearing is rattling on the splines because the trans is in the rear. C5's did this as well. Keep your RPM up a little higher as you said. Do a search on this. Normal.

I have a 2012 GS and it has the same noise. Did a bit search, all said it is the infamous "Marbles in a can" syndrome of Corvette since many generations ago. Wonder why GM has not fixed it?

Have the same "marble noise" on my 08 LS3 since it was new. Now with 49k miles the noise has remained the same. It seems to be a little more audible after driving for awhile and the components heat up. When its cold I do not hear it. Service Tech said it was "normal".

Nice thing about buying a new 2012 GS is it makes all the familiar noises like my '08 with 50k Miles did. The driveline rattle on takeoff and at idle, the top popping, interior plastic creaking and the famous LS engine 'cold engine knock' below 100* oil temp.

But it smells and drives like new otherwise

Dang, I'd have said to check the rear axle nuts for proper torque or the end links in the rear suspension. I dont recall this noise in my 09 Z or my 09 Coupe. Maybe its because the radio is usually quite loud!

I think it's normal that some have the noises and some don't. My 20,000 mile 09 Z06 dosen't have the grinding/marble tranmission noise.

Just to be sure, this wouldn't be from using an octane that was too low?

Maybe I need to put more miles on my 2012 GS (~3600) but I don't hear any noises.

Just put a couple drops of oil on the chipmunk's wheel under the hood and everything should be fine. Be well...........
